2003 Wooden Robbie Nominees

Best Actor

Acting always plays a big part in making a film great. If the characters are not believable than it will be a big flaw in the movie's result. Each year there are always a few actors that push their hardest and deliver a performance that is jaw-dropping and definetely excellent to watch. They deserve a lot of credit in how they enhance the films they were in. Here are the nominees for Best Actor:

Nicholas Cage for Matchstick Men

Cage plays a phobic con artist and he truly plays it to perfection. His acting is simply unbelieveable in this film and it is half of the entertainment that the movie brings. He fit the role perfectly and he truly became someone else for this role.

Tom Cruise for The Last Samurai

At times Cruise is witty and funny, which brings a good comic relief in the film. When he is serious, he shines with almost shocking words and downright great acting.

Johnny Depp for Pirates Of The Carribean: Curse Of The Black Pearl

Part of what made this movie so enjoyable was Depp's performance. When drunk he was so hilarious and Johnny Depp isn't Jack Sparrow, Jack Sparrow is Johnny Depp.

Bill Murray for Lost In Translation

Two words, "character study". That is something this film calls for. Murray delivers a calm and lonely type performance that his character called for. What seemed so unreal about his performance was how everything seemed to go how actual people talk and it was in no way exaggerated. Murray delivers an amazing, jaw-dropping performance.

Sean Penn for Mystic River

Its a sad character Penn plays in this film, but he blows you away and makes tears fall down your eyes. They develop his character so well, that you feel his pain by the end of the film. Penn does it all in this film, from becoming angry to crying and even turning into a sadistic man. A fine performance is what Penn gave us, a fine one indeed.

Kevin Spacey For The Life Of David Gale

A film that was underrated by many and a performance that was underrated by many is Spacey's. In one hand, he loves his kids and family and wants life to go smoothly with no problems at all, but instead it turns tragic. The emotion runs wild and so does Spacey in this performance of his.

And The Winner Is...
