サイモン・ウェスト監督がメガホンを取る新作「Medallion(原題)」にニコラス・ケイジの出演が決定した。二人がタッグ組むのは、1997年のサスペンス・アクション「コン・エアー」以来13年ぶりとなる。 2012年の公開が予定されている「Medallion」は、元大強盗の父親が誘拐された娘を助けるために奔走するアクション・スリラー。リーアム・ニーソンが主演した「96時間」(08)を彷彿とさせる プロットだが、本作では娘はニューヨークを走るタクシーのトランクに監禁されているという設定だとか。 脚本はジャーナリストから転身したデヴィッド・グッゲンハイムが書き上げており、主演候補としてこれまでにクライヴ・オーウェンやジェイソン・ステイサムらの名前が挙がっていた。 共同プロデューサーとして「ターミネーター4」(09)の監督マックGが参加するという

Nicolas Cage will star in Medallion, an action thriller directed by Simon West. Nu Image/Millennium Films has come aboard the project as financier and is already out to buyers with the package. The project had been in the works for a while and was to originally to have starred Clive Owen. Jason Statham was also associated with the project at one point as well. The story, with shades of Taken, follows a father, a former master thief, who has only a few hours to find his daughter when she is kidnapped and locked in the trunk of a New York medallion taxi cab. David Guggenheim, the former Us Weekly journalist who segued into screenwriting when he sold his high-profile spec Safe House (soon to be a Denzel Washington thriller from Universal), wrote the script. Matthew Joynes and Jesse Kennedy of Aurelius are producing as is McG via Wonderland Sound and Vision. James Holt (Men Who Stare at Goats) is also producing.

"STOLEN" （MEDALLION）からちょっとした話題。
映画の音楽担当は、Mark Isham （マーク・アイシャム）で、ディレクターの サイモンウエストとは今年１月公開になったアクション映画"The Mechanic"
から今回２度目のコラボレーションになる。
ニックの映画では2009年の「「Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans」 がある。 "STOLEN"の米公開はまだ未定ですが、来年に期待したいです。

ニックが何事もなかったように今日の朝からメダリオンの撮影に戻ったらしいです。（笑）
監督の「アクショーン！」と叫ぶ声にも準備万端！
映画の制作側としては今回の酔っ払い事件に関してはまったく影響はなく現場は変わりなく普通・・・
思うに・・・ニックはこれから撮影が続く6週間ほどの間リラックスを心がけ、
自宅で静かな夜を過ごす事でしょうね〜〜・・・って、ニックが自宅のアドレスを覚えていれば、ですが（（苦笑）））

ニックは月曜日の朝、「メダリオン」のセットに戻った。
「"彼は、超プロフェッショナルだからね。絶対に遅刻しないし、腹も立てない。
仕事をしている時は本当にひたむきな俳優、もしそうじゃなければ誰も彼を雇わないよ。」
と撮影関係者の言葉。
ニックは体調もよく、困難な撮影にも意欲的で少しの時間も無駄にしていない。
今週末には、スタントマンを使わない一連のアクションシーン撮影が予定されていて、
ニック本人もとても興奮しているとか・・・

6日、日曜日からニューオリンズで撮影が始まった「MEDALLION」。ニックが演じるのは、誘拐されタクシーのトランクに
閉じ込められた娘を死にもの狂いで探し出す父親。
映画は当初、ニューヨークシティーでセッティングされる予定が急遽、舞台はマルディ・グラ（ファットチューズデイ）のお祭りで賑わう
ニューオリンズに移された。

日曜日、午前9時30分に黒いキャデラック・エスカレードでロケ地に到着したニックはすぐに車から降りた。
エキストラの一人として現場にいた人がすぐにニックに駆け寄って写真撮影をお願いするとニックは快くそれに答えてくれた。
その後、バリケードが張られた道路の向こう側に群がる人々に手を振ってサインをしてニックはとても社交的だった。
とても親しみやすくおしゃべりで、道の両側に立つファンとの交流にも時間をかけていた。
人々はお祭りのパレードよりもニックの映画撮影を観る事に 興味があったようだ。
撮影はファット・チュズデーに再開され4月まで一時中断、その後6月まで続く。

役は、ニックの娘を助け出す手助けをする元銀行強盗で、ニックの元カノでもある女性。
撮影開始は3月中旬、ニューオリンズ。

「コンエアー」のサイモン・ウエストと再びチームを組む「メダリオン」は、 映画の舞台がニューヨークからニューオリンズに書き換えられた。
ニックは、ファットチューズデイ（ニューオリンズのお祭り"マルディグラ"で、 リオのカーニバルなどと並ぶ世界で最も有名な謝肉祭のひとつ）
に釈放される銀行強盗で、8年間も会っていない娘に会いに行くが、娘は父（二ック）を 知らない。
