Bill Moves On
Synopsis:
The WNYX staff mourns the passing of Bill McNeal (the character played by Phil Hartman, who died this past May) in a fifth-season opener that's both wry and moving. The episode opens immediately after the anchorman's memorial service. As usual, the dysfunctional group has trouble dealing with the situation---except for clueless Matthew (Andy Dick) sharp-tongued Bill's favorite target. Matthew isn't sad because he doesn't believe that Bill is dead. It seems the deceased once told him of a "secret plan to drop out of society and move to Afghanistan." Meanwhile, Bill's old foe, Catherine (Khandi Alexander), makes a return visit. Dave Foley, Stephen Root, Joe Rogan, Maura Tierney and Vicki Lewis also star.

And there's another problem: Pathologically insecure Max has had 37 jobs in 20 years. Meanwhile, a computer glitch introduced by Joe (Joe Rogan) has the office machines on the fritz. Stephen Root, Maura Tierney, and Vicki Lewis also star.
