In my senior year, an Oliver Stone movie came out called The Doors. But mainly it
was about Jim Morrison. The atmosphere was suitably dreamlike, and the casting was sublime.
Val kilmer was born to play Morrison. He looks like him, acts like him, talks like him,
sings like him (see if you can pick out who's singing what as you watch). As a matter of fact,
it seems that's the only role Kilmer can play.
I had been listening to the Doors half my life or so, but the movie sparked new interest in
me. And in every other artsy or wannabe artsy teenager who saw it. So I guess Stone and Kilmer
can be thanked for a whole new generation of fans. Take that as you will.
