Director Biography
Michael Fox

Film Amateura is the debut feature for Award-Nominated Director, Michael Fox. Michael Fox began making movies when he was six years old, playing with his father’s VHS camera. Years and years of home-moviemaking led to Fox’s achievements as a movie director in high school when he received achievement awards for directing his high school "video yearbook" and for organising his high school’s film festival.
After high school, Michael Fox studied Theatre at Dalhousie University and directed a short film called "Transit" starring Marguerite McNeil (The Scarlet Letter) which played at the King’s Guerrilla Film Festival in Halifax Nova Scotia in September 2001. Fox also wrote, produced and directed a digital video movie entitled "Lylian True" which played at the First Annual International Teen Movie Festival in Toronto and received a standing ovation.
In 2002, Michael Fox was nominated "Most Promising Director" at the Garrison Brewery Big Break Ad Challenge for directing a 1-minute Beer Commercial.
In 2003, production began on Michael Fox’s first digital video feature entitled "Film Amateura", a satirical look at independent and amateur filmmaking centred around a naive, but loveable, young filmmaker named Lance White (Portrayed by Joe Campbell). Film Amateura also stars Marguerite McNeil (The Scarlet Letter, The Divine Ryans, Marion Bridge) and Charles T. Conrad (K-19: The Widowmaker).
