International Matrix Reloaded Release dates! update

Variety reports that WB is unleashing "The Matrix Reloaded" everywhere one to two weeks after the US release (May 15) except Japan (June 7), China and India. As an R-rated pic it won't play as super-wide as "Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets' " 10,000 prints, but Veronika Kwan-Rubinek, president of international distribution, says the sci-fi/actioner will go out on more than 7,000. The first "Matrix" raked in $ 284 million overseas; Kwan-Rubinek won't say where she thinks the follow-up will finish, noting simply, "The anticipation for it is enormous."

News on Matrix Reloaded soundtrack

Disturbed's remix of "Liberate," from last year's Believe, has also landed the band on the Matrix Reloaded soundtrack. "It's probably the most aggressive song on the record," he says. "Danny [guitarist Donegan] went through and put in different stops, there's a bit of a drum loop sequence going on, different mood effects and the guitar is taken out at times. It's a very cool remix." The soundtrack, which also features P.O.D., Linkin Park and the Deftones, is due May 6th.

Final Flight Of The Osiris debuts friday!

The Final Flight Of The Osiris, an 11 minute CG Matrix short, will debut with Dreamcatcher this weekend. You'll be able to catch it after the final credits roll on the feature film.
USA Today discusses the short:
"The brothers want to tell their story in many mediums, which you couldn't do a decade ago," says Joel Silver, who produced the trilogy.
Osiris tells the story of Thaddeus, captain of the hover ship Osiris, and Jue, his sexy first mate, as they try to get a message back to Zion, the sanctuary of rebel humans. The film, starring Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss, picks up the plot from there.
"You don't have to see Osiris to understand The Matrix Reloaded," Silver says. "But it helps understand the depth of the story."
Animatrix was three years in the making at animation studios in Japan, South Korea and the USA.
Osiris is directed by Andy Jones, the young computer whiz who digitally created humans in 2001's Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within.
Jones concedes that he was nervous when the Wachowski brothers tapped him for the directing role.
"Everyone
knows The Matrix. That's legendary to us," he says. "The bar is
raised, because fans have such high expectations of what's to come next."

Storyboard artist Steve Skroce talks sequels

Storyboard Artist Steve Skroce spoke to the National Post about working on the original Matrix and it's sequels:
For about 15 months of 2000 and 2001, Skroce worked as a storyboard artist on The Matrix Reloaded (due May 15th) as well as The Matrix Revolutions (due in November), following up on his similar work on the original film.
"It's a lot easier to change a pencil and art drawing than a visual effect," the 29-year-old artist explained.
Skroce jokes about his subservient role for the film. "I was the Wachowski brothers' instrument," quips Skroce. "I tried to the best of my ability to draw what they were asking me to draw. I tried to visualize their ideas. They are very descriptive. They have incredibly intense imaginations."
Pencil art is enough for most storyboards. But Skroce would ink over his Matrix work, giving it texture and detail. "It's very much finished comic-book artwork," he says. "They wanted it as close to what they had in their minds as possible."
But Skroce says they are down-to-earth. "They're very decent guys, extremely understanding and respectful of the people they are working with," he says. They were up for beers with staff. They were open to ideas from any members of the production team without being sticklers for hierarchy, he recalls. As well, they saw detailed storyboards as a guide for everyone down the production line.
They feel if earlier on they can get as much of their ideas as precise and clear in the storyboards everyone is doing, it helps the process, makes things easier."
With the new Matrix movies, things have changed. "Way more perks," jokes Skroce. "Everyone knew what The Matrix was. It was legit. It was a success. They had fancy offices built for the art department. The art department was three times as big as it was on the first movie. Everything on down a long line was tenfold what it was for the first movie."

How Monica Bellucci got her role

The Philadelphia Daily News ran a cover story on Monica Bellucci on Thursday,
March 12th. Written by David Germain, the article has only snippets of Matrix
related info, nothing new, but there's also the teaser photo of Persephone.
..."And she's making huge strides toward establishing herself in American
films with the Bruce Willis military drama "Tears of the Sun" and
this year's two sequels to 'The Matrix.'"
"With 'Malena,' Bellucci caught the eye of 'Matrix' creators Andy and Larry
Wachowski, who cast her as the mysterious new character Persephone in 'The Matrix
Reloaded,' due in theaters in May, and 'The Matrix Revolutions,' coming in November."

EnterTheMatrix / Reloaded Link?
'Ripblade' writes in with this. Possible spoiler:
I have recently watched some of the footage for Enter the Matrix and in part of it Niobe and Ghost walk through a door at the top of the stair case in the mansion (where Neo fights). Behind the door is a never-ending white corridor with blue doors on either side. In a scriptment i read at Matrixfans.net (which has now been taken off by Warner Bros.) it mentioned that Neo runs into a corridor and every door leads to a different place within the Matrix. After seeing the rest of the game footage there was another clip of Niobe running into an elevator with Agents in pursuit, then she opened the door and she was in this corridor which she ran along and went through another door and she was in a completely different location. I think this must be an important location as in the Super Bowl spot there is a clip of lots of Agent Smiths all turning around and they are also in this corridor!

The Matrix I is linked to a tragedy
Matrix referenced by Washington DC Sniper... -- Once again, a movie is linked to a tragedy.
"Operkill" found this article over
at washingtonpost.com, which also includes a picture of the drawing found in
the cell...
here are the relevent quotes...
...Handwritten drawings and musings taken from the jail cell of sniper suspect Lee Boyd Malvo include the obscure reflections of long-dead political philosophers, references to the popular movie "The Matrix" and a series of quotations from reggae music....
...The writings appear focused, in part, on "The Matrix." "Free Your Mind! The Body Will Follow!" the writings say, along with, "You are a slave to the Matrix 'control,' " all references to the 1999 science fiction film starring Keanu Reeves and Laurence Fishburne. The film theorized that the world in 1999 was actually a computer simulation created by an evil artificial intelligence 200 years in the future. One page refers to Fishburne's time-traveling character Morpheus telling Reeves' character: "Free first your mind, trust me! The body will follow!"
Sources familiar with Malvo's six-hour interview with Fairfax police on Nov. 7 said he referred to "The Matrix" and the theories it espouses several times. Prosecutors have said Malvo also told police that day that he had fired the shots in at least three of the sniper shootings, including the slaying of FBI analyst Linda Franklin, 47. Malvo faces a November trial in that killing....
...This page also features more references to "The Matrix" and at least five snippets of lyrics from Marley, the reggae star. "How long shall they kill our prophets while we stand aside and look?" ...

We folks at Matrix Trilogy Fan Page didn't think that some boring pics will
be enough to satisfy all the matrixfans out there. So we managed with help from
itavisen.no to show this exclusive videoclip to you!
DOWNLOAD IT HERE (To see the file you need the latest version of Windows Media Player. To update your system follow the link)
This Samsung matrixphone was shown on the CeBIT 2003 and it will only be sold in US. Some other type of phone will be released as a matrixphone in the rest of the world, probably not because it's in the movie, but because Samsung has paid lots of bucks to get it's trademark into the Matrix sequels.
The people who were filming this shot said that the phone didn't impress them. Because it was to light and it felt like a chip plastic toy. Sounds bad. But the phone will probably look good in the movie!
Go to the forum and discuss the videoclip!

Producer Joel Silver tells SciFi.com that the upcoming Final Flight of the Osiris Animatrix short, attached to Dreamcatcher in theaters, leads directly into The Matrix Reloaded.
"You're beginning to see the story of the movie," Silver said. "There's a machine army. There seems to be an enormous amount of sentinels that are available. There seem to be tunneling somehow to Zion. And that starts the movie. That starts the plot."
Four of the Animatrix short films will be available at the official website

New SFX Technique in Matrix sequels
Scotland on Sunday spoke to SFX supervisor John Gaeta about a new groundbreaking SFX technique
that has been developed for the sequels:
In fact, this time around Gaeta has come up with a new technique, 'virtual cinematography',
that may well signal the beginning of the end for the conventional process of
shooting a film 'live'. The process involves five digital cameras photographing
the actors from various angles. The resulting images are then fed into a computer,
which uses them to create 'virtual' actors who can be placed in any situation
that the Wachowskis want them in.
"Once you have them in 3-D, you can compose shots and make directorial decisions just like you would with real actors in a real scene," explains Gaeta.
It sounds like another step towards the time when computer-generated 'actors' will take over from human ones, but Gaeta thinks that is still a while away yet.
"True performance will never be replaced," he insists. "Impromptu
human performance is something you can't get from an animator. It's an incredible
amount of work for a start and the result is so much better when it's an actor
doing it."

Laurence Fishburne and Joel Silver talks about Wachowski Brothers

Actor Laurence Fishburne, who plays Morpheus, and Producer Joel Silver spoke
to Scotland on Sunday about what the Wachowski brothers are like:
"Little is known about the Wachowskis," points out Fishburne. Despite
having spent years working with them, he's only half -joking. "They're
very bright people and they have like a secret code that exists between them:
they're not very verbal."
When they are on the set however, they seem to function as one person. "It's a mysterious kind of thing with Larry at the viewfinder and Andy standing by the monitor. It's almost as if the movie is in their heads and it's inconvenient that they have to do it physically," claims Fishburne.
"They plan things out together and they come to the set knowing exactly what they want," adds Silver.

Monica Bellucci's chichat about Matrix sequels

Monica Bellucci is saying little about the "Matrix" sequels.
The only thing the actress will reveal about "The Matrix Reloaded" and "The Matrix: Revolutions" is her character's name: Persephone.
"(She's) dangerous, sensual, with some sense of humor," she told AP Radio. "I have another way to be dangerous ... but you'll see in the movie."
In Greek mythology, Persephone is the daughter of Zeus and Demeter who's kidnapped by Hades to be his wife in the lower world.
Bellucci says there's more acting than action on her part -- she doesn't get to walk on the walls like Keanu Reeves.

Ray Kurzweil: technologies of "The Matrix" could soon be real

Controversial futurist Ray Kurzweil is well known for making bold statements about the near future. In his latest website prediction, Kurzweil argues that our future could resemble the movie "The Matrix." The essence of Kurzweil's views is that exponentially increasing computer technology, combined with an increasing ability to understand (and reverse engineer) the human brain, will allow us to have "sentient ... programs, the ability to directly download capabilities into the human brain, and the creation of virtual realities indistinguishable from the real world." Kurzweil argues that, in the next several decades:
- The raw computing power of the brain (estimated at 20 quadrillion instructions
per second) will be available and inexpensive.
- Moore's Law will continue indefinitely, as new computing paradigms (such as
carbon nanotubes) replace silicon chips
- Virtual Reality will be pervasive, and human beings will spend most of their
time living and interacting in simulated environments
- Nonbiological intelligence will begin to dominate.
It is easy to dismiss Kurzweil's predictions as fantasy. Unlike many prognosticators,
however, Kurzweil has an impressive track record of predicting technological
developments. He correctly predicted the rise of the Internet, as well as that
a computer would beat a grandmaster in chess by 1998. He also predicted that
LCD displays would soon surpass CRT displays, a trend which is now happening.
At the very least his comments and insights merit careful analysis.

March 7, 2003:

Monica Bellucci talked to moviehole.net today about the forthcoming Matrix
Reloaded and Matrix Revolutions.
"In Matrix, I can't say very much. All I can say is she's not like Lena Kendricks. She's very sensual, she's very mysterious and she's very dangerous. She's in control, so she's not a victim", she says.
"You know, I'll tell you, when you're in front of the camera, for a small budget movie or a big budget movie, there's no difference. When you're in front of the camera, you just play and I think that also the language. I think for an actor, it's more important, an actor works with their soul and their thought and the language comes."
We also asked Bellucci how it was to do an action film. "I have my way to do action. I don't jump on the wall, I don't fight, but I have another way to fight.", she responds.
And how does she feel joining an already established cast? "It's great because those people, I mean, Carrie-Ann Moss, Laurence Fishburne and Keanu Reeves were so nice to me. I had a really great time and actually all my scenes are with them, so they really were so nice."
And does she know the mythology of Persephone? "Yeah, she was the daughter of Zeus and she was kidnapped by the kind of the underworld, in Hades and she was allowed to come back into the living world. This is very, it says a lot about my character, Persephone, but I can't tell you about it [Laughs]. She's very mysterious and sensual, more glamour, but dangerous, very dangerous."
Bellucci also touched upon the Jesus Christ film "Passion" she is doing for Mel Gibson. "It's going to be both (a physical and spiritual story), both, and I think what Mel Gibson wanted to do is really a strong visual movie and I've seen a few things and what I've seen looks really, really beautiful and it's like a painting." she says. "Mel is a great director because he's not just a director, he's an actor, so he knows how to direct actors. I loved working with him. He's great as a director. He's so picky, so intelligent. He's generous. I really loved him."
Bellucci says all the actors speak in Latin. "Yeah, but
I think that the concept is going to be like a silent movie. When you see
a silent movie, you understand everything that's going on from the images
because the images are so strong and I think that this film is going to be
the same, the concept is there. So, everyone knows the history of Jesus. So,
when you're going to see what happened, you've heard about him so many times
that you'll understand what's going on. So, sometimes, words are too, how
do say, small to express all the concepts and I think that's what the vision
of the film is. The film is going to talk more than the words".

Morpheus: bad or good guy?
"My overall experience was that it was wonderful," he enthuses. "I mean, I'm eternally grateful to be part of The Matrix. I mean, it's this huge, juggernaut of a thing, it's the Star Wars of its time, and I get to be Obi-Wan and Darth Vader all at the same time." He laughs. "It's great."
Hang on, wind that back a second. You get to be Obi-Wan and Darth Vader? Care to explain that?
Apparently trying to decide if he's said too much, Fishburne mumbles for a moment. "Well, I mean, he' not exactly like..." before making a recovery. "I mean, when you meet Morpheus, I don't know about you, but when I saw Morpheus in the movies. I wasn't taking no red pill, blue pill. I wasn't drinking the water. I was like, "Don't trust him!"
But are you saying that there's something unexpected about Morpheus that we're going to discover in the sequels? That, maybe, he might have an agenda that's not in the best interest of Neo, or even humanity itself?
"No, I'm not saying anything else!" Fishburne hurriedly backtracks. "I'm not saying anything like that. I'm just saying that he is not all good, he's not all bad, it's not like he's the white knight or the black knight, he's a combination and that's where he's a real being, that's all."

Chichat news

Harold Perrineau, who plays the Nebuchadnezzar's computer whiz in the sequels, talked to People about working on the films after being a fan of the first movie:"My [8-year-old] daughter Aurora and I watched it so much it's ridiculous. When I got the job, she was stoked."
Especially since it meant hanging out with the Matrix cast in Sydney, where the sequels were shot.
"Carrie-Anne [Moss] and my daughter fell in love with each
other," says Perrineau. "They actually had sleepovers. When my friends
would call, they'd be like, 'Aurora's sleeping at Carrie-Anne's house? Yo,
we're coming to Australia!'"

Matrix IV rumours with an unexpected turn

So it turns out there was an element of truth to Matrix story on darkhorizons's.com Wednesday, just not what we or anyone else expected. (Read the Wednesday's story down this page)
Kenneth had some thoughts:"Read what you had on the Matrix stuff, and it is partially right. Truth is this, they did film another sequel while down on the set for the two Matrix movies, it is a bridge storyline that involves all the characters, Neo, Trinity etc. but two charcters from the upcoming movies. The "sequel" is in fact the live action segments for the upcoming "Enter The Matrix" Video Game. My brother worked with the editing staff as an assisitant editor for Shiny Entertainment on the game, so I know this pretty much "first hand". " I also had another emailer who had heard on the global grapevine that if there were to be any more adventures in the Matrix they wouldn't be based around Neo, but some of the characters we're about to meet this Summer.

It's an intellectual thrill-ride through The Matrix, with leading computer scientists, philosophers, science fiction authors, religious scholars, postmodernists and media critics all weighing in on the world of The Matrix. "With the release of The Matrix Reloaded
and The Matrix Revolutions, 2003 is going to be the year of The Matrix (again).
Published four years after the release of the first film, Taking the Red Pill:
Science, Philosophy and Religion in The Matrix is a significant contribution
to the field of film and literary studies, as well as the most approachable
collection of essays for non-specialists who simply adored The Matrix and
its complex and thought-provoking storyline. Taking the Red Pill contains
many answers to the questions raised by the film, and offers exciting and
daring new readings of this blockbuster
Taking the Red Pill is a must-read

Since its blockbuster release, The Matrix and its sequels have astounded and enthralled their fans with their subtle allusions and seemingly infinite depths. Matrix IV? To be or not to be?
Matrix IV - Ridiculous: This is actually extremely cool news. This is awesomne if it is true. In fact, even if it is wishful thinking it's a nice dream. "I'm a grip here in Sydney, part of the nearly 125 people that were crewed for the Matrix sequels over the past couple of years. I got a lot of on-set time, but the cast and most of the higher-up production staffers were pretty tight- lipped about how the whole series fit together. However, one day I did grab a tidbit...Keanu Reeves was heard to remark that he couldn't believe he was going to have to do "yet another" sequel in Australia. Not a big deal, except I KNOW we were shooting a sequence from "Revolutions" that day, so that may mean that there will be fourth installment on the way... I hope they come back down here. It was a blast working with them." Thanks Woody. Much as I love the Matrix, personally I hope he was talking about another Bill and Ted! NOTE: Darkhorizons.com had further emails that kinda knock this rumour down ... so perhaps he wasn't talking about the Matrix after all.
More info about this news to come... stay alive for an update!

Try to find the code!

On the official site the infamous binary panel has been altered, so that it when you enter "01101111" into the panel you get presented with a new hexadecimal input panel called "Access Panel 2". From here you can enter new input strings in groups of 4 number binary (i.e "1" or "0").
The first code you can enter is: 1100 1100 1000 1000 0011 0011 0000 0000 which presents you with a hexadecimal value of "CC883300". If you enter this you get presented with the following message:
"You have correctly input the example 32 bit string
You have 4,294,967,294 remaining combinations to search
Thematrix.com"
As you can imagine finding the codes in this is gonna be a dificult task, that's why an official code finding thread has been created. It's availible on the thelastfreecity's.com spoilers forum.
As soon as somebody will find any codes we'll update you on this topic! Stay tuned you folks!

Samsung starts testing next 'Matrix' phone

Samsung has landed a deal with AOL Time Warner unit Warner Bros. Pictures to provide a cell phone that will be used in 'The Matrix Reloaded,' the sequel to 1999's 'The Matrix' movie, a Samsung spokesman told IDG News Service on Tuesday.
Not much is known about Samsung's Matrix phone except for a
teaser Web site, at http://www.thematrixphone.com, which is already live.
The Web site allows anyone to sign up for e-mail updates and a Flash animation
communicates " 15 May, 2003" and "Samsung" before providing
a brief flash of the handset. The date corresponds to the date of the movie's
planned premier. A company spokesman confirmed that Samsung had reached a
"certain agreement" with Warner Bros. but declined to provide more
information ahead of an official announcement. The deal gives Samsung a high-profile
platform from which to promote its cellular telephones and could help contribute
to reaching the company's goal of selling 20 percent more cellular handsets
in 2003 than it did last year. The company has set a shipment target of between
50 million and 52 million for the current year, against 42 million last year,
and has stated a particular emphasis on overseas markets. Samsung would not
be the first handset maker to benefit from a Matrix association. Nokia's 8110
handset became a must-have item for some after it was featured in the last
Matrix movie and even sparked a small business in "Matrix-style sliding
covers," which third party vendors were offering to replace the face
plates on other Nokia models. Samsung became the No. 3 cellular handset maker
in the third quarter of 2002, according to the most recent estimates from
market research company Dataquest. During that three-month period, Samsung
sold 11.1 million handsets to place it behind Nokia and Motorola and ahead
of Siemens and Sony.

The Most-Anticipated DVD!
"I think it will be the year of The Matrix," predicts Dave Alder, senior VP of product and marketing for the Los Angeles-based Virgin Megastore chain. "The original movie is one of the biggest-selling DVDs of all time. We've got a large proportion of those potentially fanatic Matrix buyers."
Indeed, The Matrix DVD, released in September 1999, was the first DVD to sell more than 1 million units; it has sold more than 15 million DVD units to date, according to Warner Home Video. Theatrically, WHV says The Matrix has earned approximately $172 million in the U.S.

Joel Silver talks Wachowski's
Producer Joel Silver gives some insight into the mysterious directors, the
Wachowski Brothers:
There are those who say the ideas behind The Matrix are just rehashed versions
of what the Wachowskis have gleaned from philosophy books, divinity classes
and a close study of Japanese anime films such as Akira, but they seem to have
the knack of tapping into what is happening in the world. The first film came
out when the internet boom was in full swing, and now their deeply paranoid
vision seems perfect for a time when we are more security-conscious and the
state is closing in around us.
How much of that is deliberate is another matter. "If you look at the movie, then you know nothing is a coincidence," smiles Silver. "I guess they do keep an eye on things, but these are the same problems mankind has been having for thousands of years." Despite the fact that he is in closer contact with the Wachowskis than anyone, you get the feeling Silver doesn't really have much of an idea about what makes them tick.
All that the rest of the world knows about them is that Larry is 37 and Andy 35, and that they grew up in Chicago. Before The Matrix, they had written the screenplay for the Sylvester Stallone vehicle Assassins, and had directed just one film, 1996's lesbian drama Bound. "The only comparison I have is with the Coen brothers," says Silver. "The Coens come to the set knowing exactly what they want because they write their films together, and Larry and Andy are the same kind of guys. They, too, come from the Midwest, they are very well read and articulate and they plan out everything together."
What we do know is that Reloaded begins with the war against the machines reaching a new intensity after their discovery of Zion, the last human stronghold and a city hidden near the earth's core. We are still in the matrix at this point, but after Reloaded climaxes with the car chase to end all car chases, the action in Revolutions switches to the devastated real world - and the whole trilogy ends with the final showdown between mankind and the machines.
Such is the secrecy surrounding the plot, the cast speak about it only in the most general terms. "It's really the hero's journey, with new challenges and choices," mumbles Keanu Reeves.

Hugo Weaving talks about Smith's Role

Hugo Weaving, who reprises his role as Agent Smith in the upcoming sequel films The Matrix Reloaded and The Matrix Revolutions, told SCI FI Wire that his character's ability to replicate himself made for some interesting challenges during the filming. "We achieved the multi Smiths in a number of different ways," Weaving said in an interview. "Sometimes I would move into a room, say, and do it 10 times and end up in 10 slightly different positions. And then there would be 10 of me."
Weaving, who is also known to audiences as Elrond in The Lord of the Rings trilogy, added, "Then there are other scenes where there are stunt doubles or doubles of me, men the same height as me, and there would be face replacements done afterwards. And then there would be completely CG Smiths in other scenes, and then also sometimes there were dummies. There were just stationary dummies."
In addition to the new duplication ability, Weaving said there will be another big change in his character. Smith has broken away from the Matrix and is now a free agent within the system. "He's basically working for himself," Weaving said. "But he has the same goal and the same purpose and focus, which is to destroy Neo." The Matrix Reloaded opens May 15 and The Matrix Revolutions opens Nov. 7.

"We're going to change the world with these sequels"
"In the beginning, we all thought it was cute and funny (to be imitated), but then it became de rigueur," Silver says.
"But wait until you see what we have now. The (Wachowski) brothers feel they've made something that can't be copied.

"It's this simple. No other movie can compete with us, period,"

But that doesn't stop the next Matrix episode being one of the most anticipated films of the year.
The Matrix Reloaded, which opens on May 15, and the third episode, The Matrix Revolutions, opening November 7, were shot back-to-back over 200 days in Sydney, the longest shoot in Australian film history.
Tomorrow's Hit M has an exclusive page of pictures from the forthcoming Matrix sequels, plus an interview with producer Joel Silver who claimed: "When I say no one out there can compete with us, I mean it. We're going to change the world with these sequels."
Silver also paid tribute to the Australian crew who helped make The Matrix such a hit.
"The financial side is a significant factor, but the crews and the art departments in Australia are geniuses," he said.
Three years ago its impressive special effects won the film legions of fans and scored one of its Australian crew an Oscar.
On May 15, Australians will be the first in the world - due to international time differences - to see Matrix Reloaded, the second in the trilogy created by Larry and Andy Wachowski.
And already the marketing of the film, which was filmed in Sydney at Fox Studios, is in full swing. An exclusive release of a picture of Neo and Trinity (former Sydneysiders Keanu Reeves and Carrie Moss) was accompanied by producer Joel Silver doing the rounds to talk up the film.
"It's this simple. No other movie can compete with us, period," he said.
"I'm not saying that to start a battle with other films (such as The Hulk and the X-Men sequel with Australians Eric Bana and Hugh Jackman). It's just that these effects have never been done before and they are impossible to copy."

The Wachowski brothers(writers) are angry at Joel Silver(producer)!

"Actually, when I showed the Warner Bros. executives some Matrix stuff last week, two of the guys got really angry.
"They said, 'You really f. . .ed it up for us. How can we possibly follow this?"' Silver recalls.
Confident about living up to the standard set by the first instalment, Silver says, "The brothers keep warning me, 'Be careful of expectations.'

Laurence Fishburne

Matrix star Laurence Fishburne will write, direct and star in The Alchemist,
an adaptation of the Paulo Coelho novel, says Variety.
The Warner Bros. project follows the journey of self-discovery undertaken by a traveler who ventures beyond his borders in Spain during the Inquisition, trying to understand man's purpose on the planet.
Fishburne has pulled the three creative duties once before on Once in the Life, a film based on "Riff Raff," the play he wrote, directed and starred in at the Circle Rep Theater in 1994.
Aside from the The Matrix Reloaded and The Matrix Revolutions, Fishburne also just starred for WB in Mystic River, the Clint Eastwood-directed adaptation of the Dennis Lehane crime novel.
