Tolkien
John Ronald Reuel Tolkien was born in 1892. He was born in Blomfontein, South Africa. At three years old he returned to england because of his health, and lived on the outskirts of Birmingham.
Tolkien's father died shortly after they moved and at the age of 12 Tolkien became an orphan when his mother died.
When the War came Tolkien was involved as a soldier it was in this time when he was in the trenches that he began to write 'The Book Of Lost Tales'.
Even up to his last days Tolkien was working on 'The Silmarillion' which he did not finish, and his son Christopher Tolkien took this on after his father died. Tolkien died at the age of 81.
Tolkien's creation of Middle-earth took up 60 years of his life
Professor J.R.R. Tolkien, taught Anglo Saxon and English Literature at Oxford University in England. he had always had an interest in languages, myths and legends.

(which was not published until after his death)
aswell as many other books, after his death Christopher Tolkien his son, put together things which were to do with Middle-Earth which he found done by Tolkien, like different versions of stories etc.. such as The Book of Lost Tales 1 + 2 (which Tolkien had started writing just Christopher edited them) and so on.
