Pulpville Press Presents:

TAM, SON OF THE TIGER by Otis Adelbert Kline

FIRST TIME IN HARDCOVER--THE COMPLETE STORY!
Burma was a land of mystery, of gilded Buddhas and almond-eyed dancing girls, of elephants piling teak, of shaven, yellow-robed priests, smoldering incense, the silver tinkle of temple bells, and the silent ruins of deserted shrines when Major Charles Evans and his family came on a mission that was to end tragically.

Tam Evans was carried away by a white tigress when he was two years old. The son of the white tigress! There was a prophecy about the sone of the white tigress; he would be a great hero who would save the world from a terrible peril that involved the ancient gods of India. A strange and terrible people would emerge from within the earth on a mission of conquest and destruction, under the guidance of Siva, the Destroyer. Could Tam Evans be the youth of the prophecy?

Here is a thrilling novel by the author of The Planet of Peril and The Prince of Peril--the tale of a strange civilization the world had forgotten, and of the destiny that fell upon Tam, son of the Tiger.

Available in two different dustjackets.

THE YEAR WHEN STARDUST FELL by Raymond F. Jones

Mayfield was the typical college town. Nothing too unusual ever happened there until a mysterious comet was suddenly observed by the scientists on College Hill.

And then one day the modified engine on Ken Maddox's car began overheating mysteriously. By morning it didn't run at all.

Art's Garage was soon so full of cars that wouldn't run, that Ken's science club began working in the garage after school. It didn't take long for the club to discover that all the moving parts on these stalled cars had fused together. Soon all machinery had stopped in Mayfield.

The copper-yellow glow of the comet seemed to have brought the whole world to a grinding halt. Airplanes, trains, generators and heavy machinery were immobilized. Finally man was left with only a few primitive tools. In the resulting chaos parts of Mayfield were burned and looted by hunger-crazed mobs that stole and killed as they advanced.

Here is science fiction at its thrilling best. A startling and thought-provoking book that shows how human nature might react to catastrophe.

A MYSTERIOUS THUMB PRINT. If ever a young man found himself in a tight situation, Reuben Hornby did on the morning he walked into Dr. Thorndyke's office in company with his lawyer. Here were the facts as they were outlined to the specialist in medical jurisprudence. Two weeks before the visit to Dr. Thorndyke, a parcel of diamonds had been removed from the office safe where Mr. Hornby worked, while the keys were in the possession of John Hornby. There were two drops of blood on the bottom of the safe and one or two bloody smears on a piece of paper which bore also the very clear imprint of a thumb which corresponded exactly with Reuben Hornby's thumb. There follows the unfolding of the mystery. This is the first volume in the Dr. Thorndyke Series.

In other words, the globe would be covered to a depth as great if not greater than occurred in the Biblical deluge. He built an ark and picked his company for the proposed long voyage, taking about 500 of both sexes, and also animals. With the final floating of the ark amidst a torrential flood and what happened to the majority of the people on Earth, will be answered by reading the book.

SIMON BOLIVAR GRIMES, OUTLAW by E. Hoffman Price

He had a coffin-shaped face, and like the thoroughbred he rode, his legs were long; but while the horse was graceful as a panther, the rider was gangling, slightly stooped, and his oversized hands did not know what to do with themselves when he dismounted at the hitching rack in front of Squint Eye Morgan’s Sabine Palace, a dive so named because of its proximity to the river which separates Texas and Louisiana. A .45 single action Colt was awkwardly strapped to his thigh, and its owner looked as though he must have picked a lucky day for his very recent first shave, otherwise he would have cut his own throat; yet somehow, he did not stumble over the hand-hewn planks as he strode to the bar. Squint Eye Morgan winked broadly when the boy piped, “Whiskey, if yo’ please, suh.” Then, voice suddenly going bass, he boomed like a yearling bull, “I’m Simon Bolivar Grimes, suh, lookin’ fo’ my uncle’s ranch in Crockett County in the next day or two.”

And that is our introduction to Simon Bolivar Grimes, E. Hoffman Price's answer to Robert E. Howard's Breckenridge Elkins. While both Mountain Men were able to get themselves into a whole peck of trouble, Price's Grimes also had the ladies to take care of, in the Spicy manner! This collection of 13 stories include 11 from Spicy Western Stories, and one each from Speed Western Stories and Fighting Western. THE COMPLETE ADVENTURES OF TOFFEE by Charles F. Myers

Apparently paying homage to Thorne Smith and "Topper", Charles F. Myer (real name Charles H. Myers) wrote a series of stories starring Toffee, a dream girl in the strictest sense of the word: she resided in Marc Pillsworth's mind. She also existed in the real world whenever she could escape Marc's subconscious. The Toffee stories are pure fantasy, are fun to read, and are a bit mischievous and spicy. Myers went on, under the pen name of Henry Farrell, to write "What Ever Happened to Baby Jane?" and "What Ever Happened to Cousin Charlotte?", both made into hit motion pictures. All ten Toffee stories are contained in this volume and all of the original illustrations from the pulps and digest magazines where the stories first appeared are included. From Pulpville Press.

JOHN THORNDYKE'S CASES by R. Austin Freeman

In a league of contemporaries (Sherlock Holmes and Craig Kennedy), Dr. John Thorndyke is certainly the dean of the omniscientist sleuth. In these eight adventures he is at his best. Scarcely has he arrived at Little Sundersley but he notes the telltale footprints on the sand, one set made by a short fisherman in thigh boots and the other by a bowlegged and pigeon-toed person carrying a heavy burden on his back; all this helps in saving the life of an innocent butterfly collector. Then you get the sinister inhabitant of lavender Cottage, an art robbery, the blue sequin, the Moabit cipher, the mandarin's pearl, the aluminum dagger and so forth. CAPTAIN BLOOD by Rafael Sabatini

How many men there are in this broad land who have at some period of their lives cherished the ambition of becoming pirates? Captain Blood is the very ideal of a pirate. Lawless he is, but who shall say he has not sufficient provocation. He is idolized by his comrades and feared by his enemies.
