HUGO GERNSBACK PRESENTS SCIENCE FICTION STORIES | |
|
Hugo Gernsback (August 16, 1884 - August 19, 1967) born Hugo Gernsbacher, was a
Luxembourg inventor, writer, and magazine publisher, best remembered for publications that included the first
science fiction magazine, Amazing Stories. His contribution to the genre as publisher was so
significant, that along with H.G. Wells and Jules Verne, he is sometimes popularly called "The Father of Science Fiction".
The annual Science Fiction Achievement awards were named the "Hugo"
in his honor.
The Science Fiction Stories series published by Gernsback included eighteen volumes of chapbooks, each at least 24 pages in length, and all of the stories had never appeared in print previous to their publication in these chapbooks. Pulpville Press is presenting the contents of two chapbooks in each of our softcover booklets. We are also using fascimile copies of the interior pages of the chapbooks, slightly enlarged, instead of resetting the type. |
