WAKULLA, FLORIDA

Wakulla Springs was called by the Spanish the "mysteries of strange waters" or "breast of life". Development in the 2,900-acre preserve has been restricted to about 40 acres, first by the billionaire who made the spring a public playground, then by the state of Florida, which purchased the site and made it the newest state park.

The glass-bottom boat and jungle cruise rides are originals as well as the diving tower, which is said to be the same one from which Johnny Weissmuller leaped into the river during filming, although the uppermost levels have been removed.
