DIRECTIONS: From Los Angeles, take Interstate 10 east. Take SR (state route) 111 south towards the Salton Sea. In Mecca, turn left onto 66th Ave. This runs into Box Canyon Road which will take you through the Mecca Hills Recreation Area. In the hills, turn onto Painted Canyon Road and enter Painted Canyon by foot.
