People come in all shapes and sizes
I felt that some tended to be hypocrites
while giving lip service to statements
like don't judge a book by its cover up front
their real outlook and attitude was that they
only thought or thinks that only one type of look
is worthy of attention or only one look should
go for all. I wanted to bring awareness that people
come in a variety of looks. Also, we can look different in
pictures and film depending on angles, pose and zoom etc.
I started with a self portrait because though it took me
awhile to be confident in how I am(in appearance cause I was already confident
in who I am as a person), others has problems
with how i look like. (people who i didn't even know would
comment on my looks negatively for no reason--well that could
be because I m a public figure(sort-of)maybe little known figure working in entertainment.
But some went as far as to be stereotypical and say I couldn't do certain
types of roles. Like person who had unusual looks like me
wouldn't considered for a romantic role in tv/film, someone had gone as
far as to call me a bettak and in my personal life
some guys who are image consicious would
stay away from me preferring to hook up with standard looking slim or thin girls.
I had to deal with that and know that I m doing what I m supposed to do in being who i am
A few guys would say they wanted to get to know me but they were too busy with career
for a relationship & the next day I would see them with a date or get into
a long term thing.
(Maybe I got interested in only the wrong type of guy)
That's all good and fine but it doesn't mean
someone who looks like me is Toast in fact someone who looks
like me is toast with yummy jelly jam toast with nutella, toast with peanut butter.
So I decided to make it on my own term, to make my own projects and do my creative
ideas. Because I believe in myself and its not about magazine covers or one image
its about the whole you, the whole me, the multifacetedness within us
