Here is the news report from our resident Hollywood Reporter Hedda Hopper (Aunty Phyl):
17th May 2003
The Fox Studios at 84 Butmaroo Street, Bungendore on the 17th May 2003 was a hive of activity where Eleonor and Samantha were getting ready for the 50th birthday of Kerry.
Much planning had been undertaken over many weeks and Eleonor had spent many hours in the organisation of a very successful party.
The decorations were lovely, blue and gold stars hanging from the ceiling. I was told this was Kerry’s favourite colour.
Music played throughout the evening and Eleonor and Samantha entertained us backed up by a bevy of lovlies. Clancy (Stephen) also did his party piece.
The refreshments were delicious, never ending it seemed. [this is true, we are still eating party pies!! – ed.]. The birthday cake, in the form of a big blue star and decorated with gold stars, was the inspiration of Eleonor.
Clancy (Stephen) spoke eloquently and lovingly in proposing the toast to Guinevere (Kerry) on her 50th.
The response by Guinevere (Kerry) was moving and she spoke of Clancy (Stephen) and her daughters, Rita Hayworth (Eleonor) and the Green Fairy (Samantha) with love and expressed her appreciation to the girls, especially Eleonor.
Among the many friends of Guinevere and Clancy and the girls I saw such a lot of interesting people from the Movie World. I noticed and spoke with many.
It was so nice to see Whoopie Goldberg (Melanie) there with John Lennon (Michael), Whoopie looked wonderful. I liked the Wicked Witch (Mona) but kept my distance, she was there with Bob The Builder (Fred). Tom Mix (Mr. Fuller) was there with his Indian Sqaw (Mrs. Fuller) [I heard there was a mix up when Mrs. Fuller said she was an Indian Whore, Mr. Fuller quickly corrected her! –ed.] A Hollywood director (Mary) was searching for more stars for her next film. Could she ask Captain Cook (Debbie). It was thrilling to see Cleopatra (Karina) looking exotic [and accompanied by her protectors Wolverine (Peter) and Storm (Megan)] and I was thrilled to see Leslie Caron (Corinne) – I do so enjoy her dancing.
There was a shy young man there by the name of Clark Kent (Owen), but when I went to talk to him he had gone, so I spoke to Superman (Owen) instead, who is a very intense man, he was after some person named Jason (Brent), allegedly a very nasty guy. Guinevere (Kerry) had invited some of her royal friends and Princess Fiona (Kylie) and Princess Leia (Becky) were there talking to the King – Elvis (Shannon), whose parents (Jill and Dennis) were also here, keeping an eye on his pelvis. To keep us entertained the Green Fairy (Samantha) had invited a Pink Lady from Greece (Carla) who wowed us with her singing.
Christina (Vanessa) from the Sweetest Thing was also there trying to stay away from the guy who does the ‘monkey’ (Pedro) – although everyone thought he was lovely, and Christina eventually decided that as well! It was Glitz and Glamour all night with an Oscar Winning Actress turning up (Sandy), red carpet and all! This actress was in good company with Oscar Winner Melanie Griffith at the party as well. That brings me to some gossip, there was a strange man following Ms. Griffith around all night (Wayne), I wonder what Antonio would say about that!

It certainly was a wonderfully happy and memorable evening and I was so glad that I was invited to report to all you good people out there, readers of our little magazine.
