The pictures that appear on this page were all taken with a Lensbaby 3G. The Lensbaby website describes a Lensbaby as a "selective focus SLR camera lens." What does that mean? It means you can spot focus pretty much anywhere with the picture without having everything on that plane be in focus. The out-of-focus area have a differing degrees of distortion depending on the positioning of the lens and sweet-spot, often creating a dream-like effect. It's a wonderful way to play with distortion and create soft-focus effects without Photoshop-style post-processing. This is a wonderfully inexpensive (by photography standards) lens that can produce an incredible range of images. The downside: Lensbabies don't "talk" to your camera. As long as your camera has TTL metering, you can use it on aperture priority mode, otherwise you must set your exposure manually. Apertures are adjusted by inserting magnetic disks into the front of the lens. Overall, this is a wonderful "toy" that has the potential to become a staple of your photographic kit.
