Johnny Depp will play Willy Wonka in Tim Burton's adaptation of the Roald Dahl novel. Charlie Bucket, an impoverished boy, wins a candy bar contest and is given a tour of the amazing chocolate factory run by the eccentric Willy Wonka and his staff of Oompa-Loompas. This film will aim to be more faithful to the original book than "Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory" starring Gene Wilder.

He will portray 'Elle France' editor Jean-Dominique Bauby who, in 1995 at the age of 43, suffered a stroke that paralyzed his entire body except his left eye. Using that eye to blink out his memoir, Bauby eloquently described the aspects of his interior world, from the psychological torment of being trapped inside his body to his imagined stories from lands he'd only visited in his mind. Jerry Bruckheimer has confirmed a sequel to "The Curse of the Black Pearl", and Johnny has signed to return in his role as Captain Jack Sparrow. Filming is scheduled to begin in February 2005, and will be filmed back-to-back with the third installment.
