Drawing Inky

I begin with the nose--at least, that's how I always begin--a little round circle in the center of the canvas. Just an outline, because I'll go back and fill it in later.

From there I work outward--a muzzle, mouth, ears--then across the back, drawing a slightly upraised line at the rump. A tricky part--a deer's rump. Most mammals have really difficult rumps to draw. Every time I get to that rump thing I try to approach it different, but it just ends up being a mammal's tricky rump again.

I extend the line down from the tricky rump forming a hind leg, like that see? The leg crooks a bit here then descends into a large boot--a GoGo boot, in this case--extending up to calve length. It'll be colored in with red paint later.

Because I'm drawing a Sacred Deer, you have this halo radiating off its head. That means it's sacred--are you catching any of this? Puffy cheeks, dark waif-like eyes, a little flop to the ears, cute as a button and called Inky--Inky the Sacred Deer.

Radiating from the head of Inky, the cute Sacred Deer in GoGo boots, is a halo of concentric circles. The circles extend out to the edges of the canvas except for a patch up top that I leave blank for the seven Spheres. Next, I'll start sketching in the Mountain directly above Inky. The Mountain also has a bunch of lines radiating from it because it's a Sacred Mountain and Sacred Mountains get lines too. Sacred Deer, Sacred Mountain--don't ask me to explain these things.
