Shanghai Noon (DVD) * * * * * *

(Another scorcher among the greats.)

Set in the shanghai country, Jackie plays the astoundingly clever Chon Wang, named after his hero, John Wayne. While travelling to the wild west to rescue the kidnapped princess (Pei pei), his uncle is shot during a train robbery gone wrong and the action begins. With an impressive scene scrambling over the dislodged wood cart, a great fight scene with a set of moose antlers and and equally amazing, yet daring dodge from a falling church bell, its the laughter packed, jaw dropping, kung fu comedy that we all know and enjoy. Taking his comedy further in this film, the scene where he plays the Chinese drinking game in the bath with fellow actor Owen Wilson had me in stitches. The drunken Jackie is certainly a sight to see, as is after a heavy dose of the peace pipe. Go Jackie Go.
