The Accidental Spy (DVD) * * * * * (Hong Kong's version of shear delight) Starting off in Hong Kong, the scene moves to Korea and then to Turkey, in Chinese with English subtitles, though quite a lot of the film is still in English. Jackie plays the part of orphaned Bei, a good fighter with great instincts and he has to travel to Korea to look for his long lost parents. His search for his parents soon becomes a desperate search against time and bad guys to get the Anthrax 2 virus and save the world from destruction. With the help of a dying man, he is sent on his way to play the game of life, if he wins, he keeps the mans money and the Anthrax cure, if he looses, at least he's had fun. Well not quite. This film, like so many others that Jackie has produced, has been well thought out. No detail has been missed, the stunts have been well carried out, and the humour, although in small doses, is still a prominent part of his work. There are many great fight scenes to be seen here, as well as the usual acts of humorous fighting that we so love. I think he has really mastered the art of removing his jacket and putting it back on again without using his hands, and it never gets boring to see it. (I myself have failed to accomplish it). When Jackie starts fighting in the streets of Turkey, Naked, you have to laugh out loud, but don't worry, he still sticks to his word about no nudity so you see nothing more than his bum. All in all, this film is a masterpiece and everyone should watch it. Its kind of a funny, romance, sob story, kung fu film that suits everybody's needs. Outstanding. His best film yet.
