here are some dg pictures A lot of controversy has been brought up in the Dan's Grove message boards about the "President" of Dan's Grove and after a bit of thought I found myself asking this question: does the President really have an impact on Dan's Grove's society or is it just a role playing game to gain a fun title? For starters this is player organized, the President has no REAL power handed to him by MAXIS, however the two running for president Eminem - and Jeremey- really do believe that they can change Dan's Grove for the greater good.
Eminem - claims that those of us who do not like/support the Presidents authority do not have to be involved in any sort of way. With the President comes a government which all have to agree on changes made to the city for instance Eminem - truly believes he can create a Dan's Grove paper which comments on what the President is doing with Dan's Grove and such things, now this is one of his more realistic goals for Dan's Grove. What makes me wonder is why cant he do this as a good citizen and not put the effort into doing the whole President thing? Whilst the answer to this is unclear from speaking with Dan's Grove citizens and Eminem - I can conclude that by having a vote for your rep it makes people more prone to listen to the winning sim, which establishes a basis of respect and willingness to cooperate from those sims involved. So to answer the original question does the President really have an impact on Dan's Grove society or is it just a role playing game to gain a fun title? I believe that the President does have an impact on Dan's Grove society and I believe if the President makes the correct decisions than Dan's Grove could be improved. However I do think it's a role-playing thing, the sims involved are all role-playing a government, they could be role-playing as Green Peace just as equally, and these sims playing government are looking for ways to make Dan's Grove a better place. As long as they don't torment sims who do not want to participate in this game then by all means let there be a President, it doesn't hurt anyone, it can only keep things the same or improve them.
