Husk's Horror Flicks is deadicated to well....horror movies. There is no other movie like a horror movie. Can a comedy keep you awake at night? Can a drama make you wonder if someone is watching you, waiting for you as you walk home in the dark? No way. No other type of movie can effect ones life like a good horror movie. Horror movies find the fear that resides in the back of everyones mind and makes it a reality for the period of time in which they are watching. Everyone has this fear in their mind, some may not know it, but they do. Horror movies feed on this in order to make people react the way they want.

On this page I will talk about horror flicks that are classic, which you may have heard of. And some other movies that you may not have heard of but I encourage you to see. I'll also include as much information on the movies as I know including odd facts and maybe bloopers for some movies. ENJOY If you wish to learn more about me click HERE.

SITE UPDATES

Site update on April 14th (I should be studying for finals...but you know how it is)

Another guest reviewer will be posting a review for Kill Bill Vol. 2 sometime during the weekend I would expect. So be sure to check back for that.

Angelfire has been good to be but honestly I have a lot more to offer on this site but due to limitations on space it's hard to put everything I want on my page. Therefore, coming this summer will be www.huskshorrorflicks.com (or a name like that). This will ensure that I can include things such as video clips, more pictures, and many more features such as a message board.

The results from last weeks poll are in and your votes tell me that Leprechaun is the worst horror series ever made. No arguments from me. In second place came Hellraiser. Friday the 13th got 2 votes which only leads me to believe that Jason X has turned people away from the series.

This months horror reviews will feature MASSACRE movies. I think you will notice a theme. Enjoy!

SLUMBER PARTY MASSACRE

Grade: B-

Slumber Party Massacre starts off with a paperboy riding down the street delivering papers like any good paperboy would do. The camera shows a paper and we learn that mass murderer Russ Thorne has esacped from the police and is now on the loose. We are then introduced to the main character in this movie, Trish, who is seeing her parents away for the weekend which means that she has the house to herself while they are gone away. She goes to school and has an idea to have a slumber party that night. All of her friends agree and the plan is set. The only rule Trish has about her slumber party is that no boys are allowed to come. The guys of course plan to scare the living shit out of the girls that night...or maybe catch a peek of a pillow fight. Anyways, it becomes very clear to the viewer that Russ Thorne has found Trish's house and is hunting the girls down one by one and will not rest until they are all dead.

Thsi may very well be the first "massacre" movie I ever saw in my younger years. And what attracted me to this movie? Could it be the chicks in underwear on the cover?...Yeah i'm pretty sure that was it. In all seriousness though I do believe that this is one of the most underrated slashers off the 80's. I found it to be pretty entertaining unlike some of the low buget slasher from the same time. This movie has good gore, pretty good plot, and pointless nudity! What would a good slasher be without pointless nudity? So I say if you can find this movie pick it up.

SORORITY HOUSE MASSACRE

Grade: C-

The plot to this movie is not to hard to understand so I'm going to keep this short. Beth has just movied into a sorority house. Soon after being there she starts to have nigtmares about a mad man killing her. This mad man finds the sorority house and starts hunting down Beth and killing all her friends. Towards the end there is a plot twist that kind of stirs things up. Honestly, this plot is really nothing special.

hmmmmm This is one of those movies I'm not sure I like, and I'm not sure that I hate...so I gave it a C-. Like I said before the plot is kind of weak at times but during it's time when a lot of slashers were coming out I give this movie credit for at least trying to be different (Using Dreams). It's like a very low budget crossover between "A Nightmare on Elm Street" and "Halloween". That being said there is factors in this movie that every slasher must have. These include the lights going out and ghost stories. If you're really looking for a good laugh, slasher movie try the sequal to this movie: Sorority House Massacre 2: Nighty Nightmare"....now THATS a good title if I ever heard one. Overall this movie is average at best. Rebt it and see what you think.

CHEERLEADER MASSACRE

Grade: D+

Again, like "Sorority House Massacre" the plot to this movie is VERY easy to follow. A group of cheerleaders find themselves stranded in the mountains while a serial killer is one the loose in the area. With only their pom poms and "smarts" to guide them the group heads into the wilderness after their bus breaks down with their couch and the bus driver. When they find what seems to be a vacent cottage hormones start to wild and the body count starts to go up.

With a name like Cheerleader Massacre how could I pass up this movie? Well there are parts of me that wish I hadn't watched it at all. This really is not that great of a movie. Although the girls are hot and they tend to show some skin this movie is far below what I was hoping for. Actually, if it wasn't for the chicks I think this movie would have gotten a lower grade. But you know what's really odd? I'd watch this movie again. It's one of those flicks where it's so bad it's actually half good. But really...rent this movie before you buy it.

ALL FINSHED WITH THE RECENT REVIEWS? CHECK OUT OTHER STUFF ON MY PAGE.

Well now this is something new that I am trying to get going on this page. This will be my opinion section where I will talk about mostly, but not limited to horror movies. The reason that this is on the main page is just to get your attention for the first while and eventually this will be it's own section. The point of this section will be to make my site more interactive with people. I'm going to post MY opinions and I want people to e-mail me with any comments or opinions they have regarding my article and I want good and bad...don't be shy. Welcome to my mind.

The first topic in this section is a topic that will never bring people together, there have been more arguments over this then most movies. Thats right i'm talking about "The Blair Witch Project". Some people say it's the best horror movie ever made, some say the worst. To all the people that say it's the worst I say that you have no idea what you are looking for in a horror movie. I find that mostly the same people that hated The Blair Witch Project are the same people that say that horror movies are all the same and they need something new. WAKE THE FUCK UP. Seriously, can you name a movie that, when The Blair Witch Project was more original then this film? No way, not since the early 70's has horror movies seen a movie be so different. Then of course I will get the argument that "you didn't even see what was going on" and "there wasn't any gore". Again, wouldn't that make it just like any other movie? Yes it would. Instead we get something that looks so real and no other movie has been able to achieve the same effect. Yet another argument would be that maybe if the movie was made with big fancy Hollywood camera the movie would have been better. Again, not a chance. The camera is everything in this movie, it is the reason that this movie has the atmosphere that it does and in my opinion it's a perfect fit with the plot of the movie. And to all the people that think that The Blair Witch Project never had an effect on the industry I leave you with this. It is human nature to have some kind of bitterness towards something that you don't understand and turns out to succeed more then yourself. A perfect example of this would be all the "spoofs" that have involved the Blair Witch Project...so don't tell me this movie never had an effect.
