One of the most striking elements of "Grosse Pointe Blank" is its excellent soundtrack.  "Grosse Pointe Blank" consists of a number of expertly chosen and wisely placed songs, largely from the 1980s.  More often than not, the lyrics of the song playing in each scene relate directly to the action contained within it.  For instance, in the opening sequence, we hear the line "I can see all obstacles in my way" from "I Can See Clearly Now," just as the bicyclist goes tumbling over an oncoming car.  When Martin and Debi meet up with Tanya at the dance, in the middle of her story about being "sucked up into the cosmos," we hear the line "a very strange reaction" from "White Lines."  "99 Luftballons"--a song about nuclear disarmament--plays as Martin and Paul lug a dead body down to the furnace to be incinerated.  The list of synchronicites is endless, and is a great credit to Cusack and associates who oversaw the musical selections and their placement within the film.

The following list of songs is presented in chronological order as they appear in the film.  The information appears as it does in the credits.
