I saw a hypnotist show at the Ottawa Super Ex! on Tuesday night. What struck me in between sets of laughter was that in this 'heightened state of consciousness' these people were experiencing an altered state in which they were convinced to the point of actual feeling, seeing, smelling, tasting, and hearing things that weren't real- yet they were completely real to them. They actually felt that pin or saw that picture or found that show funny or thought they were a policeman or rock star. This unnerved me because I started to question my very being of reality. Proof, right before my eyes that the world can easily be not what it seems!
