This movie was thought of as a flake by critics because they saw it as style over substance taken to the extremes. such as this quote "Hollywood has finally achieved the ultimate in style over substance. Dark City is like a two-hour music video aimed at adolescent boys, full of dead naked women and nightmarish visions" we couldn't disagree more. The why depends on who you ask, the critics will say because we are adolescents, but the truth is that after so many just junk horror movies this one keeps you interested in the film and makes you think.
