ANZIO (1968)

EDITION DETAILS:

Columbia TriStar
Region 1
2001 Edition
VIDEO:

The DVD transfer of "Anzio" comes from a source print was been highly cared for. Even though the film dates from 1968, there is hardly any print damage. The image is clear and very sharp, and free of digital artifacts. Colors are very accurate and the widescreen transfer is in the 2.35:1 ratio. My only complaint is some occasional edge-enhancement which can be somewhat annoying.

AUDIO:

Unfortunately, all we get here is a very standard Dolby Digital 2.0 Mono track. It's got some signifigant bass, but other than that, there it packs no punch. The combat scenes should be exciting and noisy, but instead are boring and sound kind of flat. The French 2.0 Stereo track sounds a little bit better and I actually prefer to watch the film in French with English subtitles.

EXTRAS:

All that are included for extras are original theatrical trailers for "Anzio", "The Guns of Navarone", "The Bridge on the River Kwai" and "Lawrence of Arabia".

SGT. SLAUGHTER'S DVD RATING:

3.5 Bullets
