Danny Kaye never did win any Oscars for his movies, despite their public popularity. The awards and honors he did receive were based more on his humanitarian work than his actual comedy work. Then again, Danny put his talents to use in everything he accomplished, so maybe we can say that he was awarded for doing what he did best - making us laugh.
