Michelle Yeoh

Michelle Yeoh was born as Yang Zi Chong in the mining town, Ipoh, in West Malaysia. It was the lunar year of the Tiger.

Michelle spoke Malay and English before she learned Chinese. She practiced ballet since the age of 4 and moved to London to study at the Royal Academy as a teenager.

In 1985, Michelle began making action films. She'd never been trained in the martial arts, so she relied on her dance skills and on-set trainers to get her ready for her fight scenes (she does her own stunts). She's been injured a couple of times. During the making of Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, she hurt her ankle doing a kick that she practices everyday.

The first time I saw a Michelle Yeoh film was some years back. It was Wing Chun. I wasn't into kung fu and action back then, so I didn't pay much attention, but I did catch some of Michelle's cool moves and stunts. That night, there was a Michelle Yeoh movie marathon. So they showed Wing Chun, Heroic Trio, and Heroic Trio 2 (Executioners). I really liked the Heroic Trio. It's one of my favorites.
