Hwang Jang Li, or Wong Cheng Li as I know him, was born on December 21, 1944 in Osaka, Japan (but he is Korean).

He began practicing Tae Kwon Do against his parents' wishes. During the 70's, he was a martial arts trainer for Korean Troops in Vietnam. There, he was challenged by a Vietnamese knife expert. Not long after the fight began (about 30 seconds, so I've heard), Wong Cheng Li's (Hwang Jang Li) opponent was killed by a kick to the head. Wong Cheng Li came out victorious.

Wong Cheng Li (Hwang Jang Li) is one of my favorite fighters and villains. I first saw him in Dragon Claws in which he played the villain Kam Fu, and I thought his leg action was awesome.

*Today, Wong Cheng Li has a son and is retired from the film industry.
