Dale Grow's new film "Coming Up For Air" takes a look inside the lives of a mid-western dysfunctional family. "Helen" a mother of two, played by Susyn Elise Duris, is suspected of cheating on her second husband played by Robert Kilby. "Helen's" teenage son "Brian", played by Tyler Davis resents that Mom has entered into an interracial marriage and that she blames his sister "Jennifer" played by Laura Parish for the break up of her first marriage.

Growing up in this dysfunctional family has made it difficult for "Brian" to focus on doing well in school in his senior year. Seeing how poorly his mother handles her relationships has set a poor example and makes it difficult for him to understand how to respond to the flirting of fellow student "Robin" played by Heather Gorby.

As if dealing with a crazy home life wasn't enough, "Brian" has to contend with the regular issues that face teenager’s everyday: school, homework and relationships. However, all of these things are affected by the lack of good support system at home, and a mother who wraps herself up in self-pity and blames everyone else for her self-destructive behavior.

"Brian" eventually runs into his sister at a local coffee shop and fills him in on the past and why the relationship with she and their mother is strained. An unexpected twist at the end of the movie begs the viewer to begin asking questions about who was really telling the truth. One also learns that "THINGS ARE NOT ALWAYS WHAT THEY SEEM!"
