Driving Tips
Recently, I have been introduced to the most boring class I will ever take- DRIVERS ED.

Of course, there is humor hidden in everything, so here is my brief list of helpful tips directly taken from my drivers ed. book:

1. "Parking is not allowed in the following areas:
Within intersections..."

2. "You will not be asked to do anything illegal during the test."

3. "Tranquilizers may cause you to feel sleepy."

Downing St. Memo
Today I read the Downing Street memo- it's my recommended summer reading for anyone who wants an excuse to hate Mr. George W. Bush. But if you're in a really good mood, you might not want to ruin your bliss by reading it- unless you're like me and you thrive on finding out scandalous things about public figures that you've never really liked all that much. And if you've always have been and will be a staunch supporter of Mr. Bush (I certainly don't wish to offend you), you can still read it anyhow-it's interesting!!

Basically, this document, which proves that Bush lied to us about the threat of Saddam Hussein and that the British were in on it too, contains the minutes of a meeting of some of the highest authorities in the British government on July 23rd, 2002- 8 months before the war began.

Here is a direct quote from the Downing Street memo:
"Bush wanted to remove Saddam, through military action, justified by the conjunction of terrorism and WMD. But the intelligence and facts were being fixed around the policy."
-Sir Richard Dearlove, heads UK foreign intelligence service.

Here is another:
"It seemed clear that Bush had made up his mind to take military action, even if the timing was not yet decided. But the case was thin. Saddam was not threatening his neighbours, and his WMD capability was less than that of Libya, North Korea or Iran."
-UK Foreign Secretary, Jack Straw

George W. Bush's statements about the war, of course, have always been quite different.

I encourage you to read the Downing Street memo yourself- it has been published on-line and in many major newspapers lately.

Of course, I am not fool enough to believe everything I hear, from either a British document or an American president. I do, however, believe that it is only right to do some investigating and ask some questions, even if those questions challenge one of our elected officials.
