She turned around, hearing a snuffling noise behind her, oh it was only the man's horse. Her eyes widened and she smiled, grabbing her cloak and shifting the pack on her back she leaped onto the horse and rode off into the surrounding woods. Her shock at what she had done left her in an instant at the joy of riding, but the thought of it didn't leave her mind...for the moment at least.
10 years later...
Nalmalu looked up at the sudden noise in front of her. She was sharpening her blade and before her, a strange hobbit had just appeared. She stood to her full height and smiled at the male hobbit.
"Who are you...hobbit?" She said with a slight smirk.
The hobbit looked sternly at her and said: "I am Terwin and I have no time for rabble like yourself."
"You are bold for one so small. But...I have not introduced myself, I am Nalmalu Stonethrush. And I suggest you speak in a more kindly manner next time, or you may find my blade at your throat." said Nalmalu, touching Terwin's chin with her dagger.
"You are right...but I should like to know, for I have passed through these woods many times and I have not seen you here before, how do you come this way?"
"I travel where and how I please, as I have done for 10years now. I am here, on my way to Bree...if you wish to know."
Terwin looked around and then said in a whisper "Then, if I may be so bold, could you do me a favour?"
"It depends what it is..."
"I-I need a letter to be delivered to my...er..friend in The Shire, could you please take it for me?"
"It shall be done, my new friend, but I ask one thing in return..."
"What?"
"In my greatest hour of need you will repay this favour."
"Then it shall be done." said Terwin.
They shook hands and then Terwin handed Nalmalu the letter and they set off in opposite directions.
