Gandalf the Grey is a wizard, he is the person who tells Frodo the truth about the Ring. His knowledge is deep and he is often in peril, risking his life for others. No matter what he does, however, he cannot help Frodo on his road, all the way to Mordor, as he is lost in shadow. But the time would come when Gandalf would proove greatest of all the Wizards.
