Cate Blanchett was put into the role of Galadriel for her acting talents, but it appears that really all she wanted was pointy ears! Yes pointy ears! Her other excursions include Charlotte Gray and Bandits.

Galadriel

Galadriel is Queen of the elves of Lothlorien, along with her husband Celeborn she rules in peace and tranquility in a world where time does not seem to pass. But all is not well, for Galadriel is wielder of the one the Elvish Rings of power and with which she built the forest haven. But once the One Ring is destroyed so is the fair land of Lothlorien-and the elves in it will pass over the sea. Yet if Sauron regained the Ring of Power she would not be able to use the elvish Ring, for he would be able to see what she was doing and control her. Either way the end of the elves was nigh.
