I looked up at the doctor when he called my name. I followed him into the small office decorated in maroon and gold. It reminded me of pier one.
"I have the results."
I nodded.
"Are you sure you want them now? What about your husband?"
"Tell me." I said demandingly, like I was in control.
The doc nodded.
"According to the DNA…the father is most definitely Joel Madden."

I woke up in a cold sweat.
Fuck, what a strange dream. I rolled over in my empty bed and looked at the clock. 11:43am.
Of course, it did make a little bit of sense. I mean, it was my guilty conscious, wasn't it? I had no business fucking Paul's wife. But Lucy was…Lucy was amazing, but this had gone on too long. We had a child, Jason. A fucking baby. Jason's life was a lie. Paul wasn't his father. I was. I knew it, from the moment I set eyes on him. Lucy knew it too. But we didn't tell Paul. And we kept fucking. In their bed, when Paul wasn't home, when the baby was asleep.
I made myself sick.
And that's what the dream was telling to me. What if it was the other way around? What if I was in Paul's position? I hate myself so much.
I picked up the phone and dialed Lucy's (Paul's).
"Hello?" Lucy answered.
I realized I didn't know what to say. I hung up and got dressed quickly. I drove to Paul and Lucy's. It was such a pretty day. It made me feel even more awful.
I pulled up and front and noticed both cars. They were both home. Good.
"Yo, man, what's up?" Paul looked up at me from the couch.
Lucy came in carrying the baby in her arms against her hip. I swear he'd grown. I swear he looked like me.
"Joel?" Paul asked. "You okay?"
"Lucy I'm sorry." I murmured and looked at Paul. "Paul, I've been having an affair with Lucy…for 2 years."
Paul's eyes went wide. Lucy gasped.
"Jason's my son." I continued.
Paul shook his head furiously. "No, no, NO."
"Yes, Paul."
"NO!" he screamed. "No, you're lying."
"I wish I was." I hung my head.
"You're lying." Paul stood up and stared hard at Lucy, who was sobbing, and the baby. "He's lying."
"It's the truth Paul." She peered into his eyes. "It's the truth."
