This is my second post in 'Anilda Series'. Though I have
started it, obviously the series is not MY series. A
series tends to take on a life of its own. Yet, I feel
like pointing out that the Noor Jehan series got rather
too hot soon after its inception. I hope the Anilda
series will go at a slower pace than that. I would be
content for the series to reach its conclusion after an
year or so and (say) 105-110 posts. One dilemna now would
be the choice of series for a Lata-Anilda song since Lata
already has an ongoing series dedicated to her. Ganti
tells me that he posts Lata-SDB songs under the SDB
series. But I feel since the Lata series has a potential
to go on for longer, Lata's songs for Anilda should
continue to be posted under LATAnjali only. It is just a
thought. I will make an occasional exception to this
rule, though, and mention names of both the series in
some Lata-Anilda songs' posts.

While discussing the idea of starting the series, I
mentioned that I had no intention of maintaining a list
of songs posted in the series. But Nimish registered
www.anilbiswas.com domain name. He and Ganti may keep a
list of posts in the series on the site.

I believe Lalaji (1942) is the only film in which Anilda
sang under someone else's music direction. He was winding
up his association with National Theatres that year. He
composed music for National's film Roti in 1942. He also
lent his voice to three songs (2 solos and a duet) in
Lalaji, produced under that banner. One solo has been
included in a Meet Commemorative (nindiya khoi diyo). The
other solo is also a beauty and its lyrics are posted
here. I owe Neha a big thank you for making the song
available to me. Its lyrics were posted in one of the
past issues of Listeners' Bulletin and I just had to
transliterate. I am afraid my mp3 of the song doesn't
have the last stanza. It is either missing from Neha's
cassette or I clipped it off by mistake during
digitization. I don't know much about Vasant Kumar Naidu,
the film's MD, except that his name is to be seen here
and there in the hfgk around 1942. Anybody has any
information about him? Sreenivas Paruchuri?
Pasupuleti-ji? His name is surely worth remembering for
just the two Anilda solos in Lalaji.
