Greetings to everyone reading this page!

It would probably be prudent at this stage to introduce ourselves...

We are two students, Emma Rumball (BA American Studies) and Alex Lees (BA American and English Literature), given the task of setting up a website as part of one of our course units, 'Novels and histories'. This is the result.

We decided that our site should focus on slave narratives, their context and history, as this was a subject which not only interested us both but, on which we felt we had adequate knowledge to attempt building this site.

Our aim was to provide a site specifically for students which was easy to use. We found many interesting sites on the net and had come across several useful things such as online books. We know how hard it can be to read the books in time for the seminar.... Especially when *gasp* they expect you to BUY them as well!

'What about my beer money?' i hear you cry.

Well this is a simple solution to that problem.

None of the websites we had found, although great on content, provided everything we needed in one place - so here is the perfect site for poor students like ourselves, who don't have time to drudge through a million websites just to find certain information. (Sorry to all non 'Novels and Histories' students.....maybe you could get someone on your course to do the same as us?.....

To anybody reading this, student or not, please stick around and have a browse. Please bear in mind that this is an ongoing project for us so there will continue to be some pages that we are building, so sorry if this causes a bit of inconvinience but will benefit you guys in the long run!

So have a nose. There's sure to be something here to interest you if we got you this far! Enjoy!

We also have a message board (blog) available for anyone who would like to contribute or make suggestions, whether it be general discussion on topics, a quick rant, ideas for a new page or you have any material of your own you'd like to post. Go take a look.

Thank you, Good luck and enjoy your course!

Emma and Alex
