My Worldview
The main theme (apart from my own personal cause) of my writing is the state of the World today and my main objective (apart from my personal quest for justice) is to phrase my objections to the nature and means of News reporting by the media in the western World with especial respect to the corruption endemic in the nation and wider society. Let me just say that this isn't necessarily how I would want to spend my time but it is certainly one of the few worthwhile or useful tasks I can carry out with any facility. If I did have much realistic choice of what to do, constrained as I am by economic deficiencies I would certainly spend more time in reading and relaxing insofar as most of my time seems to get spent in fruitlessly fretting but anyhow. As you may well have adduced if you have looked at any of my other articles or essays: in saying that I'm not someone who has a particular view of History as such (or at least I like to think so) insofar as I have no particular employer or other master to please excepting the norms and values of the comparatively liberal and secular society that is the modern UK, it immediately begs observation that these are worth clarifying. It is not entirely without reluctance that I have to point out that I have been more economically limited than one might usually suppose such a character to be and from a general perspective it is worth noting that, the record of my experiences as is noted in other documents mainly my CV, does in fact constitute a fairly accurate representation of life in the UK and provides many useful insights perhaps e.g. from the point of view of a comparative foreigner with regard to such matters as the truth about what is and is not considered safe or reasonable to say by standards of contemporary consensus. It is probably safe to say from the point of view of less interested parties that I am someone who in theory enjoys some of the most enviable civil liberties of almsot any nation with regard to the concept and principles of free speech and that therefore it is really quite simply the case that I am someone who has to a a very real extent, been able to set out to think, discuss and create good ideas insofar as the onset of the digital age and computerised mass media makes this arguably much more real for a single creative individual than was ever previously conceived and there are always the best of reasons for seeking to meet the challenge of justifying One's existence as History moves onward and others fill its pages with their clamouring mediocrity. I am very convinced that the World must be heading for a major catastrophe of some sort, probably not within my own lifetime,(which isn't likely to be particularly lengthy) but certainly within another two generations or so. My considered opinion is that: water shortages; untrammeled population growth; pollution; the activities of the world's military industrial complexes and the obsession of so called responsible politicians, figureheads and role models with overt duplicity (spin) and profitable institutionalised hypocrisy (two facedness), make a major catastrophe inevitable in the medium term. I therefore have to express my distaste for the rigmarole of brainless teeny boy sports and pop star 'role models ?' Bimbos would be a better word, who populate our tabloid press and TV screens as a pathetic excuse for popular culture, and seek to take issue with the calm reassurances of self satisfied, overweight middle England that we should not be developing an apocalyptic view of what is happening in the world today. I don't claim to purvey solutions to any of these problems, or even that one might exist for any of them. I simply say we should be more aware of the truth and more concerned about it than we are told to be by those who have done well by whatever means, out of this or the last lifetime via their accomplices in the world of Journalism and their stooges in the world of so called democratic politics who are constantly peddling pauperising stories about the likelihood of real solutions to pressing social problems. I don't mean to beat a convenient retreat from an ambitious vision when it strikes me that some form of moderate nationalism is an inescapable means of understanding ones' fellow beings insofar as they cannot entirely be avoided. Besides the fact this is far to conveniently a word which can mean almost anything without a proper deliniation of it's context and can rarely be considered an adequate or worthwhile assessment of any of numerous complex aspects of human behaviour, it is fairly reasonable to say simply that we tend to understand one another in terms of our identities, which whether we like it or not tends to take the form of belonging to some nation, ethnic group, religion or creed. The point is I feel, that people still tend to regard one another as Englishmen, Frenchmen, Spaniards, Germans etc and that various attempts to foster internationalism and abolish this apparently destructive factionalism in the species have remained on the basis of available evidence largely utopian in more respects than the plethora of literary material on the subject that has been written in English might lead the unsuspecting individual to consider. I have to admit that this immediately seems to beg the question as to whether or not this is due to the innate nature of the human race or to circumstance? The simple reason for this being that if we could definitely ascribe for example the fact of major wars being constantly fought even when little or no economic incentive exists, to the fact of man himself being doomed to be warlike in nature, and unable to exist without a certain significant amount of conflict orientated behaviour, we could save a lot of trouble seeking to prevent war on the specious basis that removing apparent motives for conflict will result in a lack of it. One disadvantage of such a tribalistic conception of human society today, is the extent to which any society with identifiable characteristics has among its' principal problems the fact that there are too many people in it with too many high expectations and too few, useful or valuable skills and abilities and that far too many of our predispositions toward likely patterns of social evolution are based on outmoded norms and values of a historical 'frontier mentality' having little or no relevance in a world where all the land space has definitely long ago all been claimed many times over, the surplus population has nowhere to go and weapons of mass destruction are everywhere! In other words, it might unfortunately seem that people do not tend to like one another unless there is a specific reason for so doing and this may prove to be the real reason why the human race seems collectively incapable of behaving as logically as rational well adjusted individuals can. In the event for example that the successful and fecund homo sapien succeeds in destroying itself by some accident or mischance it will merely be fulfilling the only logical destiny of a healthy expanding population of any sort.
