Reflections on School
In 2001, I enrolled in an MBA (Global Management) program with UOP at the Columbia, MD grounds campus. Was working full time (while traveling) a few miles away, and thought I’d use my time in the evenings to go back to school. September 11th changed that, and I dropped out.
But, you see, I wanted to go back to school. I wanted to continue on in school and get a graduate degree…maybe even a doctorate.
Last year, a friend of mine convinced me (as Stephen King once said) to “get busy living or get busy dying.” I chose to live, and decided it was high time to undertake that effort. I’ve been in instructional design (in one capacity or another) for much of 20 years, so I decided to enroll in this online degree program in a field I enjoyed, and in which I could advance vocationally. I must confess that I’ve learned more in this past year by independently studying than I feel I did in years spent with my ‘brains’ sitting in a traditional classroom.
