First taste of the Pyrenees, Fiesta El Pilar and Barcelona

So far I have been able to see quite a lot of the area around me. I haven’t done an access of travelling but I’m lucky in the sense that I have managed to see a bit of the area. I went to the Pyrenees for the first time in my life halfway through October. The shame is that I didn’t have a chance to take any pictures because it was really terrible weather! At this point I had just started my spanish classes and had a good time trying out what I had learnt since now one in this group I went with spoke english. This was a pint in time when I wasn't feeling very happy aobut my progress in Spanish so when one of the guys I was talking to said I spoke fine, it really lifted up my spirits. It's really funny to think that every time that I feel that my spanish is hopeless (especially after a day in the lab when I have to cope with aobut 5 or 6 misunderstandings a day!) it's really great to hear that people can actually understand me...

But then there was the El Pilar Fiesta. This was just three weeks after I arrived and two weeks before I went to the Pyrenees for the first time. You get many days off and there are lots of things to do and see and especially.....lots of going out! The following pictures are some of the pictures taken during one of these nights.

So instead in the middle of November I went to Barcelona for the weekend. Here too I unfortunately don’t have any pictures of, since they were made by a friend of mine on film and I need to figure out a way to scan them in…so those will come in due time…. What I can say about this wonderful city is that it’s definitely the place to go! It’s got so many things to see, so Auguste and I had to make a choice in what we would go and see! I saw some of Gaudi's amazing architectural artworks, and then the beach…enjoying the tapas, paella and the sangria!
