Train Photos

Marion Union Station one of the best spots in Ohio for train spotting. Marion Ohio is about an hour north of columbus on US 23. Over 60 trains every day cross over the dimonds behind the station. Dimonds are railroad formations in which one track crosses another at a 90 degree angel. Marion is very rare as it has eight of these behind the station. CSX runs trains on two lines here , one between Columbus and Toledo and the other between Cleveland and Indianapolis. Norfolk Southern also runs trains here on a line between Columbus and Sandusky. The dimonds are arranged in two groups. The first where CSX crosses Norfolk Southern, both railroads have two tracks, making 4 dimonds. The other set is only a few hundred feet away where the CSX line from the first set crosses another two track CSX line making 4 more dimonds. The Train station is currently being restored by the [Marion Union Station Assotiation] with money donated by the public and a grant from Trains Magazine. The station houses a model train layout open to the public on sundays from 2pm untill 5pm.
