Here is a bit of info on some of the ingredients in my dog biscuits and why they are good for your dog. Of course you will not find humans chocolate or onions in here as they are toxic for dogs. I always check ingredients of things I am adding to the treats to make sure there are no onions or onion powder!!!
And now there is some questions about feeding dogs large amounts of grapes and raisins!!!! So I’ve not put any of them in either!!

Real Beef - Excellent source of highly digestible protein.
Canola Oil - Source of fatty acids and vitamin E - Good for healthy skin and shiny coat
Garlic - Boosts the Immune System and helps make blood taste nasty to biting bugs!!
Flax Seed - Good for coat, skin, eyes.
Salmon & Tuna – Good source of Omega 3

Garlic is a great source of selenium, which must be present in the body for proper immune response, and which also acts as an antioxidant in the presence of vitamin E. Selenium can help neutralize free-radicals in your dog's body and minimize the effects of daily stress.
Garlic is also an effective antibiotic, anti-fungal and anti-viral agent. Also you'll find that some studies have found that it lowers rates of certain types of cancer.
Since garlic increases the body's resistance to infection and stress, just adding a little garlic to your poochies dinner cant be a bad idea can it???

Another word on Garlic….. do you know that onions are toxic to dogs…???? And garlic is in the same group!!!! They both contain Allium. Onions have LOADS in which is why they are toxic and garlic has a very small amount in. If you want more information on this use any search engine and you’ll find plenty of info… Also it should not be eaten by dogs with pre existing anemic conditions!!!!
Here is a good site …. Click Here
This is a dog forum where people are talking about garlic – which I found interesting!!! Click Here

Canola oil comes from the mustard plant, originally grown in Canada. Hence the name "Canada-Oil" or canola for short. Food products manufactured with Canola Oil have higher levels of polyunsaturated and monounsaturated fats and significantly lower levels of saturated and trans fatty acids than traditional products. This ingredient is especially helpful for your pup to keep him away from the "pounds."
Canola oil's unique ratio of almost 2 to 1 Omega-6 to Omega-3 makes it the richest vegetable oil source of essential fatty acids. (In comparison, corn oil is approximately 55 to 1 Omega-6 to Omega-3.) By giving canola to your pup you can help to increase circulation, reduce joint tenderness, and maintain a healthy immune system. Plus, it's gr8 for maintaining healthy skin and coat.
ADDED BY ABBIE – when looking on the internet some sites are saying the opposite about canola oil!!! Rather confusing so it is for you to decide. Recipes that have oil added are usually this oil but you can request veg oil if youd prefer!!!

The Tomato was once thought to be a vegetable, it was eventually discovered to be a fruit. Tomato products, specifically tomato pastes and tomato purees, contain a naturally occurring antioxidant called Lycopene. Lycopene has the ability to neutralize free-radicals before these dangerous chemicals can cause the cells permanent damage.
If you grow tomatoes in your home garden, be sure to keep your dog away from the leaves and stems. They are potentially toxic. The fruit, however, is an excellent source of soluble fiber, a necessary part of every dog's diet. Plus, it's packed full of nutrients such as vitamin C, vitamin A, and lycopene. All of which are helpful in keeping your pooch healthy.

Peanut Butter is a great source of protein, a must for every dog's diet.
Its also a great source of vitamin E, a strong antioxidant that protects cell membranes from free-radical attack, and may be beneficial in preventing certain diseases. Plus, peanut butter is a super source of Biotin, also known as vitamin H, which is said to be helpful for thin, splitting nails and good for the coat. So if poochies fur is lacking in luster, the naturally occurring oils found in peanut butter will have him looking like a million bucks.

Carob comes from the fruit of an evergreen tree native to the Mediterranean region. The tree's large, long bean-like pods are picked, dried then ground into a fine powder that looks very similar to cocoa. Carob contains none of the dangerous ingredients found in the cocoa bean, like allergy-producing antibodies or the caffeine stimulant theobromine, which can be fatal to some dogs.
Plus it's tasty and healthy. And, it contains as much vitamin B1 as asparagus or strawberries, the same amount of niacin as lima beans, lentils or peas, and more vitamin A than eggplant, asparagus and beets. It's also high in vitamin B2, calcium, magnesium and iron.

Flax helps build your dogs auto imune system against diseases, plus its high in fiber and alpha linolenic acid. “”The issue with Alpha Linolenic Acid, like flaxseed for example, is that it is an inactive form of omega-3, and must be converted into EPA and DHA, which are the active forms. Due to a deficiency of a certain enzyme, the dog is unable to make this conversion.’’ Which is why it needs to be fed with a sulphur based protein like cottage cheese or yogurt…..
Flax seed (meal) is a complete food providing you with the benefits of Omega3, 6 & 9 EFA's, fiber, protein, plant lignans, vitamins, minerals and amino acids. Flax oil, expelled from the flax seed, contains the EFA's but not the fiber, protein and plant lignans (an anti-cancer agent). Flaxseed contains approximately 40% oil. (I chuck the seeds in my chopper to make the meal). You will get maximum benefits from a seed that is milled or ground before eating. Flax seed contains phytoestrogens and lignans which are essential plant estrogens. Phytoestrogens are different than estrogens because phytoestrogens do not stimulate the growth of cancerous cells and they help prevent cancer.
Again look online and you will find TONS of info about flax seed.
