The door of the Ark’s control room opened and Sonic could be seen, alone.

The first to say anything was Rouge, “Where is Shadow?”

Sonic simply looked down at Shadow’s bracelet which he held in his hand and shook his head. A silence passed over the entire group before they said anything again.

Rouge asked Sonic, “Do you really think… that the professor created him… Shadow, to carry out his revenge upon all those who live on Earth.”

Sonic responded “He was what he was: A brave and heroic hedgehog who gave his life to safe the planet. Shadow the hedgehog…”

Rouge seemed to like that answer and remarked “I guess you’re right.”

Eggman and Tails both stood at the glass and looked down at the earth. Eggman asked, “As a child, I looked up to my grandfather because of all the great things he accomplished in his life. He was my hero, and I wanted to be a great scientist like him. But... did he really mean to destroy us all?”

Tails with an upbeat tone of voice said,”I don’t know, but what I do know is that we all did it together.”

“Your right” Robotnik said finally donning a smile.

Knuckles walked up to Rouge who was still stood, with a rather distant look on her face, where she had talked to Sonic. He asked, “So what’s next for you Rouge? Off again to find some more of those jewels you love so much?”

She responded, “Nah, I think I’m going to give up this line of work to much work for to little pay. Anyway I’ve got something better than jewels that I’m thinking about right now… It will all work out. You’ll see,” She finished with a look back towards Knuckles.

“If you say so Rouge,” was all that Knuckles said.

Sonic looked out of the window into space as if he was looking for some kind of sign while muttering to himself, “Could he have been the ultimate life…”

Amy walked over to him and asked, “What’s the matter Sonic?”

He turned and said, “Oh it’s nothing. Come on! Let’s go home to the planet as cool and blue as me!”

The group left the room before the door closed Sonic looked back giving a small wave of his hand and said “Sayonara Shadow, The Hedgehog”
