History
Sirius was born in 1960, into the "Most Noble and Ancient
House of Black." As a child, he and his younger brother
Regulus were pampered and spoiled, and were allowed to pretty
much do as they pleased.
He and his brother were close, and they were close with their
numerous cousins... namely Bellatrix, whom Sirius enjoyed bossing
others around with. He was hot-headed and strong willed as a
child, and listened to no one - which resulted in numerous
accidents on his part... namely, a broken arm after tumbling out
of a tree, a broken collar bone after trying to climb the side of
the house, and a broken ankle, after he insisted he could jump
out of a window, and land on his feet.
As Sirius got older, however, he began to hate the ideals of his
family. He made friends easily, and was angry and confused when
his parents cut some of those relationships off, based only on
the purity of the person in questions' blood. When it came time
for him to attend Hogwarts, he and his cousin Andromeda were
quickly labelled the "black sheeps" of the family,
because they were sorted into Gryffindor.
Sirius was determined to be different from his family, and he was
determined to prove that his views were right. He was already
close with James Potter, who was accepted by his parents, because
his last name carried weight around in the influential social
circles. He quickly also became friends with Remus Lupin, Peter
Pettigrew, and Arabella Figg, and eventually with Lily Evans as
well. Sirius was also close with Evan Rosier, a Slytherin boy
who's only true friend was Sirius, and with his cousin,
Andromeda.
During his Hogwarts years, Sirius was, in a word: Cool. In
reality, he was as insecure and dorky as evryone else, but he was
quite adept at acting like nothing mattered to him. He and James
were smart, athletic, and had rather arrogant streaks, and they
delighted in the attention they recieved from pranking,
quidditch, and taunting fellow classmates. When the
self-proclaimed 'Marauders' discovered that Remus was a werewolf,
Sirius insisted they do something about it. In their fifth year,
Sirius, James, and Peter became animagi.
When Sirius was fourteen, he discovered the opposite sex. And the
same sex. No difference, really. He took advantage of his looks
and enjoyed charming the trousers off anyone that looked his
way... though as time went on, he realised that he had far more
than a simple attraction to Remus, and when they were sixteen,
they began dating.
After Hogwarts, things took a turn for the worse. Voldemort and
his followers were gaining power at an incredible rate, and no
one was longer able to tell who was on what side. Sirius and his
friends were torn apart by the realisation that a traitor was in
their midst, and relationships were strained, and tempers flew.
In the summer of 1981, Sirius' longtime friend Evan Rosier was
killed by Death Eaters. Sirius had known he was one himself, but
Evan had risked his own life to ensure Sirius' safety, and Sirius
was wracked with guilt and anger.
In the fall of 1981, Sirius was set to be James and Lily's secret
keeper... though at the last minute, he and James decided to
change it to Peter. They believed that no one would ever expect
Peter to be the secret keeper, and thought that by switching,
they would ensure the Potter's safety.
On 31 October, 1981, the Potters were betrayed by Peter. Sirius
arrived minutes too late at their home in Godric's Hollow, and
the sight of two of his best friends, and the knowledge and guilt
of what had happened, would continue to haunt him for the rest of
his life.
In the early hours of 1 November, 1981, Sirius began to track
down Peter, and he eventually cornered him in Diagon Alley.
Before he had time to react, Peter had shouted that Sirius was a
murderer, and with one spell, he killed thirteen muggles, and in
the process, managed to cut off his own finger, and transform
into his animagus form.
Sirius was arrested right after. He spent twelve years in
Azkaban, before he became the first person ever to successfully
break out. Saying that life was hard then, would be the
understatement of the century. Sirius, to this day, cannot shake
the guilt and grief that resulted from that October night in
1981. And once he was out, he was on the run immediately.
In June of 1996, Sirius was hit in the chest with a Stunning
Spell, thrown by his cousin, Bellatrix Lestrange. He fell
backwards into a veiled archway, inside the Department of
Mysteries, in the Ministry of Magic. He is presumed dead, but...
His story does not end there.
Personality
Sirius is tempermental, prone to snapping, and argumentative.
However, he's loyal, kind to those he cares about, and has a
rather absurd sense of humour. He's quite the contradiction.
He fights hard for what he feels is right, and once he's got an
idea in his head, it would take a miracle to get him to forget
about it.
Good, Bad - throw it at me and I'll handle it.
