Our Lady of Mount Carmel Middle School includes Grades 6, 7, and 8. At OLMC, our goal with our teen students is to create a safe, nurturing environment, promoting strong morals and a firm foundation in faith, while at the same time allowing these children to become the young individuals that will transform into the citizens of tomorrow.
Our classrooms are outfitted with lockers that the children store their personal effects and textbooks in, to allow them to gain a higher responsibility and prepare them for the years ahead. These children are offered many opportunities for service to the community and to the school, which shows them the value of being a responsible citizen.
Curriculum follows “block” scheduling, which allows for longer, more concentrated lessons. Advanced math, pre-algebra and algebra are offered to students at this level, as well as the foreign languages of Spanish and Latin.
8th Grade students have their own fundraising programs to raise money to cover the costs of their graduation and class trip. They also put the entire yearbook together on their own, and must find sponsors within the town to help offset the cost of printing the book. These activities help the children to learn to plan and execute, as well as teach them the value of money and hard work.
