OLMC’s Alumni play a large part in the success of our Parish School. Many of our alumni send their children to the school or support the school financially or through volunteerism, carrying on the life of our school for many years to come. Some of our alumni have dedicated themselves to the school by being a member of our Faculty and Staff. We are proud to say that we currently have 8 alumnae working as teachers, teachers’ assistants and staff members here at our school. How truly blessed are we that OLMC School has stayed in the hearts of those we have educated, and how wonderful to these people directly affect the lives of your children and many children to come!
Although there are many of you, our alumni who do currently help us in some way, we feel that there are so many more that perhaps have not been given the opportunity to do so! Alumni can help in many, many ways. Of course, financial help either through donation or participation in our events and fundraisers is one way that helps us tremendously. Below are some other ways you can help make our school the absolute best:
VOLUNTEER!
We need help from alumni who would like to volunteer some time in our school, making it a wonderful experience for the children of today. For example, during Catholic Schools Week we encourage alumni to come and speak to individual classes or to the entire student body about your experiences here at OLMC and how being educated here affected your life. Also, Reading Week (April) is a perfect time for members of the alumni to come and read to a class. Aside from these special times of the year, we always welcome members of our alumni to come and share what they know with our students at any time.
SHARE YOUR TALENTS!
Do you have a special skill or an interesting occupation? Coordinate with our principal and teachers to see if we can inspire the children with a presentation, exercise or project.
SHARE YOUR CONNECTIONS!
Do you work for a company that would or could donate merchandise, materials, money or goods? Let us know. We have special programs throughout the year when we treat our children with snacks and goody bags…perhaps your company can supply some of these items? Never underestimate what you can do for our school….sometimes it’s the little things that make all the difference!
