Bio: The Brillantes-Banas Clan are the descendants of Eduardo Pelagio Brillantes y Balderas Madrid and Maja Jalandoni Jover y Arroyo Banas of Banate, Iloilo, Philippines.
Eduardo is son of Francisco Pelagio Brillantes, a Telecommunications officer who came from Barotac Nuevo, Iloilo. His Mother is Josefina Balderas Madrid- daughter of a Spanish military officer in Jaro City (now only a District of Iloilo City) during the last years of the Spanish Regime- Marcelo Alguevar Madrid of Balcelona, Spain; and of Maria Babiera Balderas of the landed Spanish mestizo families of Banate- the Balderas family and the family of Felix Babiera who was the first gobernadorcillo of Banate in 1837. Maja Jover Banas is daughter of Ludovico Arroyo Banas- an officer of the USAFFE during WW II and a former Regional Telecommunications Superintendent of the Bureau of Telecommunications, Republic of the Philippines for Region VI (Panay, Negros, Palawan and Romblon) during the 1950's. Maja's mother is Carmen Jalandoni Jover from the family of politicians during the pre-war and post war times in La Paz, Iloilo City. Carmen's brother, Dominador Jover, was Mayor of Iloilo City in the 1950's.
The children of Eduardo and Maja are: 1.) Rev. Fr. (Captain) John B. Brillantes, STL- a Chaplain of the Armed Forces of the Philippines who is presently taking his Doctoral Degree in Theology at the Pontifical University of the Holy Cross in Rome, 2) Mary Lee- married to Clemente Eclar of Jaro, Iloilo City. They have two daughters- Maddie Marie and Margaret Mary Therese, 3) Newlyn- married to Ariel de Juan of Jaro, Iloilo City. Their daughter's name is Patricia Maria Angela, 4) Marlon- married to Gemma Jacomille of Jaro, Iloilo City, and 5) Jane- married to Elmar Badayos of Banate, Iloilo.
