LAST UPDATED: Thursday, May 12th, 2016.
In 1976, The King was still rocking on stage, the Super Bowl was only ten years old, disco was all the rage, leisure suits and bell bottoms were the look of the day, and America was celebrating her 200th birthday as a nation. Meanwhile, a new tradition was born as a small group of residents organized the Austintown 4th of July Committee which laid the foundation for the township's biggest and longest running annual event. To honor the organization's 40th anniversary, we'll take a look back at the people and events of the last 40 years. In that time, we've seen space shuttles, soldiers returning home safely from wars in the Middle East, Michael Jackson's moonwalk, the fall of the Berlin Wall, sports dynasties, incredible advances in technology such as computers and smartphones, classic TV shows, outrageous moments (like watching OJ's white Ford Bronco), the paranoia of Y2K, and scores of other unforgettable events in both entertainment and history that captivated, influenced, and defined an entire nation. Come along with us this year as "Austintown Strolls Down Memory Lane."

The parade steps off at 2:00pm on Monday, July 4, 2016 at Raccoon Road and Kirk Road, heading north to Falcon Drive.
