"Rhythmic Views" The passion I have when I write these words, Can't be explained by my misuse of verbs, They flow from the point, they come from within, Most are written about a past relationship or friend, I've never been able to express my feelings, That's why my heart always has troubles healing, My sensitive side I hardly ever show, But when I put them in words, they somehow flow, I get a sense of gratitude when I finish a rhyme, For some strange reason it doesn't take a lot of time, A gift I have and I don't know why, I guess I'll be writing till the day I die, So if you get some time, Sit back and employ, Read some of my poems, I hope you enjoy! "Take Time" Do you ever wonder, Why the birds always sing, Why flowers seem to bloom best, In the early spring? The summer rains tend to make things grow, Why leaves fall before an early snow? Why stars shine throughout the night, The morning sun is always bright? We tend to get caught up, In our fast paced way, And forget to observe the beauty, of each passing day. Those who take the time, Are blessed with gods' grace, Those who don't, Stay caught up in the rat race., God created changes for every season, Ever try to figure out, what is his reason? Always remember, before each day closes, To take time out,"To smell the roses"! "The Rose" Fertile in the soil, Cool water from a well, A seed anchors its roots, The sands of time will tell. Nourished by the sun, The bush that bears the flower, Love from Mother Nature, A bud awaits blooming hour. The sight, a must to see, Breath taking beauty to adore, As the petals open up, You could not ask for more. For in life, beauty is priceless, And those of us that know, To give the gift of love, And show it with a Rose. "Changes" Something happens to a man, I really can't explain, When he meets a beautiful woman, It's almost insane. His whole life changes, He thinks of one thing, To capture her heart, And tuck her under his wing. If she shows a little interest, Just sit back and enjoy, And watch, how it transforms a man, back into a little boy. Its amazing the many changes, A man will go through, To win a woman's heart and prove himself true. So if you see that childish excitement Whenever I come by, You won't have to ask me, Because you'll already know why... "Sittin Pretty" A place we love to go, Somewhere to get away, The place you ought to know, It's our cajun getaway. Secluded in the woods, A perfect place to be, Surrounded by mother nature, I call it "Sittin Pretty" Memories there are precious, The time we spend is fun, I built you a minature model, Because to me you're #1. So display it with pride, When you see it remember me, Because when we're together, It's where I want to be. "Only Two" Life was simple and easy Way back when, Three brothers, one sister, Family and Friends. It wasn't always easy, But we seemed to get along, Mom and dad fighting, There must be something wrong. Time took it's toll We all went our seperate ways, To face lifes' fortunes, Out of contact for many days. We weren't always close, But seemed to stay in touch, Different values and lifestyles, We never talked too much. Then late one night, I guess around ten, A phone call, silence Dinky didn't make it in. Hard to believe, Very hard to except, Life isn't always easy, Only three of us left. A few years later, Another call on the phone, Your brother Ramon has drowned, From my grieving mothers tone. We don't really know, When our lives will end, We live, we learn, We try to somehow mend. So stay in touch, Enjoy all that you do, We once were four, And now we're, "Only Two". "Again" Some say I fall fast, Well let me tell you friend, You don't know what it's like To fall in love again. The greatest feeling of all, I feel it in my heart, I really can't help it, If I felt it from the start. I hope that in time, Those who shun my ways, Experience the magic I feel, That enlightens all my days. Time always tells the tale, And for those of us that's been, There is no greater feeling, Then to fall in Love again. "Never Give Up" Whenever you're feeling down and nothing is going your way, I want you to think about this story, that happened to me one day. You think you've got it bad, But let me tell you friend, There came a time in my life When I thought it was coming to an end. I was working on my truck It wasn't such a big deal, But before I slid under I forgot to chock a wheel. I was woking in my driveway, It's kinda on an incline, As I started removing the driveshaft I realized, I was in a bind. Positioned in a manner, With no time to spare, Before I blinked my eye, My tire was already there. As it rolled across my body, I didn't feel any pain, To make matters worst, It started a light rain. At that point in time, My body had just been crushed, I realized at the moment, This job I shouldn't have rushed. When I was lying on the concrete, Looking up at the sky, I asked the lord above, Please don't let me die. So remeber a little prayer Is all we need to say, Whenever we are down To get us through the day! "Saint" This is a poem about a man named Saint, Who could write love letters, draw and paint. He's an average Joe, with eyes that glow, Love's to hunt, go fishing and dance, And always has time for a little romance. He can stay up all night, ain't that nice, Claims he can take care of his baby more than twice, But for some strange reason, He didn't get enough hunting in this season, You can see him driving out on the O-Gee, In his extended cab baby blue chevy Heading towards highway Seventy-one, He won't be back till the rising of the sun. It may be Wranglers or Flo's Where he goes, nobody knows. He's a JackDaniels man, With 7-'Up in hand, But, one thing is certainly clear, When he comes back he won't have a deer! Sometimes, you can catch him singing a tune, Or looking for a star passing by the moon. But once you meet, learn and know, You'll find that he isn't no average Joe, He's not available for anyone to claim, Doesn't like to be called by his first name. For he is the dream that some girls paint. But swears that an angel belongs to this SAINT! "Lifes Challenge" Being in love will always be, God's greatest gift he's given to me, I love that feeling and always will, Somehow we peak then lose the thrill, It doesn't always have to be that way, Love and communication each and every day, We get upset at the stupidest things, All of a sudden we start having mood swings, A change is made and don't know why, Mad at each other, precious time goes by, Instead of being honest and up front with each other, We hide it inside and wait for another, It amazes me that most people are the same, They won't swallow their pride and take up the blame, Life is too short and it doesn't make sense, That we have to live always on the defense, I promised myself, that never again, Will I hide my emotions from my best friend, She'll know where I stand each and every day, Hopefully she'll do and feel the same, And neither one of us will ever be the blame, Understanding each other and making things work out, Has always been a challenge, but it's what life is all about. "Jessie" Down William Spur rd., called the O'Gee, Across Swayze Lake, his place we'd all meet, Drinking, playing cards, talks about the hunt, Southern Cajun hospitality you could not beat, There he spent most of his weekends, Doing what he loved to do, Enjoying the outdoors with family and friends, Cracking jokes and good cooking too, He was alwasy there when I came by, Sitting under his tin roof covered in ash, "Hey Asshole", he would always say, "John, John, John, you ain't nothing but trash", Always had his doors opened, To anyone that came thorugh, Offer them soemthing to eat and drink, Or just sit around and shoot the bull, He will be missed by many, But now he's in a better place, Our Father who art in heaven, Blessed Jessie with humor and grace, To me he was a legend, And continues to be, Because a part of him, Now lives in me! In Memory of Jessie Stout "Don't Know" Give me a reason, Tell me why, You say you love me, But don't even try, Where are you going? Where have you been? No one to worry about, Just out with a friend, Easy for you to say, Easy for you to do, Keeps me wondering, Are you being true? Only you have the answsers, Locked in your heart, The combination unkown, Is it over, or a new start? Communication is the answer, Help me to understand, I have an open mind, I'll take it like a man, What am I doing wrong? You know I love you so, Would you please tell me? Your answer,"Don't Know" "The Hunt" The morning darkness, Turns to day, Norcutrnal Feeders, On their way, Leaves crunching, To my right, Still can't see, Not enough light, I can see a deer, But still don't know, Is it a buck, Or is it a doe, My leg is shaking, Can't slow it down, It's coming my way, All I can see is Dark Brown, Then all of a sudden, It caught my eyes, As he lifted his head, And his rack did rise, I pulled the string back, On my Darton Bow, A few more steps, I'll let the arrow go, Something startled him, And he ran away, It eludes my mind, Still to this day, I'll never know, What frightened that deer, But the rush it gave me, Brings me back each year. "Try and Understand" We open our hearts and dreams too, To life's greatest gift a love that is true, We spend alot of time and trust into one, Going out all the time and having a lot of fun, As time goes by, like the clouds above, We realize how much, one can learn to love, Everything around you seems perfectly clear, And before you know its already been a year, But like Newton's Law,it always seems to be true, Whenever you love this much, your bound to end up feeling blue, Cause a woman changes, and I can't figure why, If you're anything like me, makes you want to cry, One thing in life I'll never understand, Is why can't a woman be more like a man! "Dad" If there were ever a way, I could try to repay, For everything you've done, I would do it with pride, Cause youwere always at my side, With you it was always fun, If there's one thing I've learning, It was how you were concerned, About the way I would turn out, You were always around, And never let me down, A bestfriend to me, no doubt, So what I'm trying to say, Is I could never repay, For everything you've done. But one thing I'll sh ow, No matter where I go, Is I'm proud to be your son! "Mamou" North of Eunice in Cajun Land, Middle of the street the y set up the band, Motorcycles parked all down the roads, A variety of people no dress codes, Freds is the place where most visitors go, To say they've been there and watch the show, But there's another place just up the street, The Cafun French music you just can't beat, "Hotel Cazan", kinda New Orleans style, If yo ustop there, you'll be awhile, No other place I would rather go and twirl, Dance all day and impress my girl, The friendly compliments we did receive, Had Ann saying, "I just can't beleive", We had so much fun but couldn't stay, The hotel was closed so we went on our way, It's the place to go to have some fun, Three days before, The Mardi Gras run. "A Friend" Nobody believes in anything anymore, It takes some getting use to, Where there was once magic, Your word is no longer true, Merlin encrusted the sword in the stone, Only the true of heart will do, It took me a long time to realize, But I still see that quality in you, I hope you cross your bridges, I pray you never fall in, I'll always be here if you need me, I will always be your friend. "Mother's Day" When I was young you were always there, No bills or problems never a care, We did things as a family, always together, Growing older seemed to take forever, The time finally came when I was old enough, Started a family and realized how rough, We drifted apart and went our seperate ways, Sometimes we wouldn't talk for many, many days, Tragedies and harships soon set in, Family, relatives and some of our friends, The pain we endured, these times were sad, Made me look at life and be happy and glad, Life is too short not to reflect, On the person who taught me Love and Respect, Though we hardly see each other and live miles apart, I want you to know you're always in my Heart, I know I don't see or call you as much as I should, That's why I put this poem behind this glass and wood, Whenever you're lonley and we don't keep in touch, Know in your heart, I Love You So Much, I don't say it enough, but I hope that you see, Just how much you really mean to me, We tend to forget, but I would like to say, Thank you for loving me, And have a Very Happy Mother's Day! "Confused" Why am I confused, This I need to know, Without any direction, I don't konw which way to go, I'm finally in a position, Where most men want to be, All my debts are paid off, I'm pratically debt free, I come and go as I please, No one to answer to, But still I have a void in my life, And I don't know what to do, Could it just be I'm lonely, Or maybe a little afraid, On what lies ahead of me, Because of decision I have made, No matter what happens, I'll take each day with a smile, Until I figure why I'm confused, This state I'm in for a while. "A Breeze" If life was so easy We would all be rich, Everyone would be happy Noone would bitch, We wouldn't have to paint Or rake up the leaves, Cut the grass on the weekend Trim branches from the trees, Wash all the dirty clothes Vacuum the whole house, Put out the garbage Fight with out spouse, Clean out the garage Wash the car or truck, Why can't we go to the casino And just have lots of luck, Get up each morning And start the day, Not worrying about the negative That might come our way, Some things in this world You just can't change, But with a positive mind Thing can be rearranged, So keep me close In whatever you do, And think about me Thinking about you! "Smile" Attitude is everything, I think you'll agree, The positive affect it has on me, Look for the good, not for the bad, Make people laugh, don't make them sad, Negative or positive, a feeling you get, Ones disposition, your own mental set, Freedom to an opinion, you can voice, The decision is yours you have a choice, Life as we see it solely depends, How we perceive through our visual lens, Two ways to look at anything we do, The pessimist or optimist, which one are you? But before you decide, let me just say, The outcome will affect you in everyway, Half full or half empty, win or loose, Everyday you wake up you get to choose, The answer is easy, but most don't try, They let the change just pass them by, Life is too short the future is bright, Left is not the turn, the answer is always right, So take a turn give some direction, When someone is down show some affection, Blessed is the person that smiles each day, And doesn't let the opportunity slip away.
