This page is about the vehicle on the far right.
The vehicle that this will focus on is the mock police car pictured
on the far right on the above picture. Ocording to Peter Bartons Mad Max
FAQ the vehicle is a ZG Fairlane, unfortunaly though after watching the
scnees of this vehicle i have not been able to confirm it being a ZG or
ZF. The ZF was the model befor the ZG and the two cars are pretty much
identical. The ZG is basicaly a ZF with differant interior and a few minor
cosmetic changes to slightly alter outside appearance. The most noteable
being the grill and front indicators and the rear tail lights which received
a silver mesh type covering.
If anyone has a video or DVD player that allows clear pausing or frame
by frame play could they please wtch the movie and tell me which model
Fairlane it is, it would be greatly appreciated.
The vehicle has a number of modifications the most noticable apart from
the police colours being the differant grill, bumper and headlight arrangement.
The grill is from a 1947-48 Buick, im not sure whether there is any differance
between the 47 and 48, or between the differant model buicks but the grill
is the same or very very similar to the buicks pictured below.

1948 Buick |
The bumper is also buick but from a differant year to the grill. The
bumper has been sourced from the front of a 1959 buick, although im not
sure whether there is any differances between the differant models of 1959.
Another modification is the guards, which appear to be from 1972-76 LTD.
The only aparant reason for changing them seems to be, to eliminate the
front indicators.
I think the bonnet (hood in USA) is a stock Fairlane item which looks
a tiny bit more like a ZG than ZF item, although its realy hard to say
so it may even be or a LTD form the same year as the guards.
Once again if you have the equipemnt to to pause clearly, play frame
by frame, or have a reraly bit TV and can help out please e-mail
me.
Like a lot of the vehicles from mad max two the wheel arches were cut
out to allow bigger rubber and a couple of hazard lights added
There is also a few smaller modifications such as the wheel arches
which have been cut out to allow larger rubbber, two red rotating hazard
lights monted on the rear parcel shef and a single blue one on the roof.
The roof is also house to two air horns with a large air horn or horn speaker
mounted between the two.
