~United White Shepherds of New Zealand is a non profitable alliance of owners of White Shepherds.
The purpose of the alliance is to help and support to maintain and keep a healthy bloodstock of White Shepherds in New Zealand.
Uniting all lovers of the White Shepherd, White Swiss Shepherd, White German Shepherd and Berger Blanc Suisse.
All same breed, just different languages in different countries.

We now have two more White Shepherds in NZ registered with an international kennel club.

When Rittmeister Max von Stephanitz did start up the breed German Shepherd he stated:
“No good dog can be a bad colour.” ....
His first bitch was Freya von Grafrath, his first dog was Hektor Linksrhein.
Hektor was renamed Horand von Grafrath and became number one in the breeding register.
Hector had a white grandad, Greif.
The first GS had white ancestors so it is a enherited color.
Sometime during the travel the color white was less desired due to the misconception that it was a weak color and that breeding with a white could take the dark out of a black and tan dog. This is not true!
It went that far so some new born white pups were taken out instantly.
Some countries kennel clubs did not let GS born white to get registered some did but with distinction not desired.
FCI and UKC the worlds largest kennel clubs does today accept these white shepherds as a separate breed.
Most countries do today follow this and let all White German Shepherds enroll back to the country kennel club as White Swiss Shepherds or White Shepherds. (Swiss because Switzerland was first country to accept the "new" breed within FCI)
There are today many camps of what is correct.
Some want all GS to be united no matter color. Some totally deny that they exist and are purebred. Some want them to be allowed to enroll to the new breed in all countries..
A shepherd is a shepherd, no matter color, there are more important matters as healthy dogs than the color itself.
Whatever your desired color of the shepherd is, the major thing is that the breed standards and health recommendations are followed!
To know a dogs pedigree is important, it is the key to health and genetics.
To breed dogs with not fully known pedigree or of less quality is damaging for the breed and the breeds recognization in those countries where white is not fully recognised to roll back in.

Most countries worldvide let the white shepherds of existing blodstock that once got locked out to enroll as a separate breed, so not yet the NZ Kennel Club even though they are members of FCI.
It is of great nescessity that we keep record of all White Shepherds and only breed dogs with fully known pedigree if to ever get the breed recognised by enrolling to the local KC.
It is as always a necessity to breed only dogs with known pedigree and out of high quality striving for better!
