CURRENT ACTIVE STORMS IN THE ATLANTIC BASIN

None

Last Update: Thursday, August 10, 2006 8:30pm

ATLANTIC BASIN VERY QUITE AT THIS TIME

There are no areas of interest in the Tropics to talk about tonight. Meanwhile I want to point out that wind shear have been the caused of the weakening of tropical storm Chris as well as Invest 91l; however, is important to keep in mind that the unfavorable upper level winds experienced recently are normal for the beginning of the month of August; This is expected to gradually change during the last week of the month. Dry air also has been a problem for the development of the vigorous tropical waves that have emerged from the African coast in the past few days. Recently, moister air has been taking place in the Atlantic Basin especially south of 15N, a sign that environmental conditions may be improving.

Atmospheric conditions in the Atlantic Basin are expected to be more favorable to exhibit tropical cyclone formation in the next 10-15 days as suggested by climatology.
